what are u running that requires 200amps? A small carnival? my 79 Sa has a 15 amp alternator, and my 2003 protege (with a 200w stereo, car computer, etc...) runs a 55 amp and only draws like 43amps peak.

a true 200w stereo will draw more than 55 amps.

[quote name='pianoprodigy' date='May 23 2005, 07:50 PM']I have the Mazsport alternator (he's my mechanic). The problem with rebuilding the stock alternator (that type, I forget what brand they are) is that they won't make much more amperage at idle. If someone is telling you that you'll get 200A out of the alternator, I think you're being misled.

i only had it rebuilt to stock specs, wich costed me 50 bucks, and 200amps is more

Here is a picture of the alternator installed in my car. As you can see, it is a very beefy unit. It makes 100A at idle and 200A max. The stock alternator only makes 40A at idle and 100A max.

this guy makes alternators for a living, and his alternators come with warranty so i dont think he'd screw anyone over. lets see what happens, i decided to just get the alternator i have rebuilt because the voltage regulator is fucked up, so if it comes back and i dont have any further issues with it, i wont even send out the other one to get reamped.

A tig/stick welder... Just stick a tig attachment onto the battery and you can fix any body work on your car!

AC on, headlights on, 2 fuel pumps, 3 MSDs, Microtech LT8 with display, 4 electric fans, Eclipse HU, Polk 350W RMS sub amp, Polk 150W RMS x 2 amp for components, and a Profec-B Spec II. All of that pulls 90A at idle. The stock FD amplifier puts out 40A at idle (I bought a brand new one and tried it for a while), so it is grossly insufficient for my setup.

These can be purchased through Mazsport. Their contact information is in my sig.
