200amp Alternator

if its a 3hp gain, i really find it unlike that youd even notice it to be honest.



if you really wanted 3 extra horsepower just finetune your ecu more. this talk of 3hp is silly.

yes yes, like I said 3 HP can be determined by many factors including amount of gas in the car, wind, weight of driver, Ect ect ... 3hp is just silly

How is it that 200 amps will run better than 110 amp alternator? Are you exceeding 110 amps for your total current draw on your car?

unless you have some massive stereo system, or 60000 lights on your car there is no need for a 200 amp alt. Bigger is not allways better!

Are you sure there are windings available to increase amperage that much?



I had an S4 FC alt rebuild from 65 amp and brought up to "100" amps, afterwards I found out you can't buy windings anywhere that increase amperage for the size of the S4 casing



Long story short I got gyped by alot of hot-air from a rebuild shop

i was told to change the battery...but well see. my interior lights dim noticeably when i step on the brakes at night.

Maybe you should fix yuor grounds and clean up the terminals for your headlamps/relays with some sandpaper and some dielectric grease.

well i got the alternator rebuilt for now, and the other one that i have that also crapped out (chrome one) will be sent to either be just rebuilt or maybe reamped, dunno yet.



the main reason i was thinking of uping the amperage is because im running 2 fuel pumps, 2 sets of HID's and fog lights, ignition amp, planning on some kind of sound system in the future... and

I have the Mazsport alternator (he's my mechanic). The problem with rebuilding the stock alternator (that type, I forget what brand they are) is that they won't make much more amperage at idle. If someone is telling you that you'll get 200A out of the alternator, I think you're being misled.

Here is a picture of the alternator installed in my car. As you can see, it is a very beefy unit. It makes 100A at idle and 200A max. The stock alternator only makes 40A at idle and 100A max.
