20b In A Glc

Yeah, you can totally see the bellhousing in that pic. It may look like there's lots of room in front of the engine too, but there's really not. I think the waterpump pulley would be too close to the radiator for a fan if I were to use the stock mounting location. that's why I'm trying to fit the rad further forward.
I just went through my old eBay email stuff and found out the waterpump housing and fan and waterpump itself grand totals were 5+5+15.50=$25.50 instead of $65 like I thought it was. Man, am I the good deal getter or what?

Hehe I wish!
I pulled the ribcase tranny out of the GLC today and the white REPU guy and I installed it in my REPU. My other Cosmo ribcase will go in the GLC after I get a couple seals for it because it's leaking a little out of the input shaft, and the bellhousing was caked with a nasty oil and clutch dust slurry. Yum! A perfect excuse to pull that sucker and make it shine like the bellhousing in my MG. I mean like hundreds will be looking at it if I can make it down to sevenstock, right? Heh, it'll actually be under the firewall, but I'm a neat freak, so it's all good. Yeah, the ribcase that used to be in the GLC was is pretty sad shape. I just hope the seals won't leak too much untill I can get that half bridge 13B ready for my REPU, so when I pull the slow engine, I can change the seals if necessary.
I'm actually under a severe time constraint, so it was necessary to use the GLC's tranny instead of the other one I got specifically for the truck. It's kinda weird how it worked out like this. What I mean by that is... You know how sometimes things have a funny way of working out? That's exactly how this GLC has been. When one roadblock pops up, a detour is almost emidiately discovered. I tell you everything so far on this car has been like that. It's the freakiest thing. From the time frame of getting the 20B and the GLC within about a week of each other, to the fuel cell some how fitting with less than an inch to spare (and the guage sender taking kindly to a simple mod to make it compatible with the stock guage), to this tall FB radiator that I've had for a while but never found a use for, until now, to the temp sender on the 20B being accurate with the stock temp guage (at least when cold), to the better-of-the-two ribcase 5 speed trannies somehow working out so the nicer looking can go into the car instead of the truck. There's quite a few others, but you get the gist of it. I've never had this much luck with any of my other vehicles, but then again, the GLC isn't as far along as many of them are. The project build is still 'young' at this point.
Don't you just love my ramblings?
So tomorrow, I get to fill the tranny with oil and take it for a test drive. I wonder what wonderful sounds it'll make? Grind crunch bang whine. Heh, I hope not. It'll still be better than not having 1st gear, and starting off in 2nd, and then only being able to go into 5th, with a nice crunch for my trouble. At least reverse worked ok (it was an SA smoothcase high mileage etc).

Do you already have stock JC Cosmo coils and ignitors? I think I remember you talking about phase 2 on the other forum.
If I can finish my tranny today, I may start cutting the firewall. I decided to not build a mockup 13B and instead go for the gusto, er uh 20B, so I can fit the radiator. The tranny is already out of the way, so why not?

yah, i mean you're going to put the 20b in there anyways....
i got the coils and ignitiors with my motor, but i ended up using fd coils, and they arent enough. so i'm gonna use the ones i have (freebie) and an e11, clean some stuff up, change the bubbling delaminating dash yada yada

A while ago I heard that armor all can destroy your dash. I don't know if it's just an urban legend though.
Do you need a 20B MOP?
The tranny works great. 2nd is a little crunchy, but I sort of expected that.

If it has alcohol in it, then yes. Any Armor All type of product that promises to evaporate quickly is no good as well. Formula 2001 does not. Use that stuff instead. Formula 2001 is good to go on about any surface.
