I recently picked up a RWD GLC that a local rotary shop sort of almost finished converting over to a 13B. It came with a mild ported 4 port 13B with an RX-4 carb, early ribcase 5 speed, 80-85 RX-7 front struts and brakes, and 16 gallon fuel cell (it was never installed). The guy that got it from the shop had it for two years and never did anything with it. He kept the engine and let me have the rest for $500. Here are some pics of it before I got it. (the page may take a while to load) http://www.geocities.com/cd23c/cars.html#glc

I'm taking pics of the 20B install as it progresses.

The latest things I'm doing are building a new tranny mount, installing the fuel cell and making the 0-90 ohm GM sender work with the stock Mazda fuel guage.

Things still to do are to cut and widen the tranny tunnel, get a remote filter adaptor on the rear plate, get a light steel flywheel, swap front covers to an '85 or older, make an oil baffle plate, heh, this list sort of goes on and on.

I just needed someone to bug me to get it done in time for sevenstock6. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

theres plenty of room in there if oyu move the tranny back too, but thats good cause it keeps some weight balance

You know something, that squareback may have actually been in a magazine 10 years ago. I know he had it back in '94 (or maybe even '93) and sold it in '96 or '97.

That Midget you see is the rotary powered one at the top of the page. I got it in '96 and put a 13B in it in '00. Read the history page for more details.

I finished the tranny mount tonight. Now I just have to get a set of bolts to hold the legs of the U together.

Next thing is to mount the fuel cell. I'll try to do that tomorrow.

Cool! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Hey, if Turbo 3 doesn't want my TPS, I'll send you the TPS pigtail if you want it. I'm just waiting to hear back from him.

My bank account finally updated this morning. Now I have enough cash on hand to pay the shipping charges on the manifold and stuff for rotaspec. As soon as I get back, I'll continue remedying the "goes like crap" condition of my GLC. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

Jeff20B 06-20-2003 06:59 PM

rotaspec's package is on its way, I've ordered some stuff I need for the front cover swap, and it doesn't look like its raining outside. Oh and I found some bolts that will work with the tranny mount.

At this rate, 75 REPU will need to start working on his truck on weekdays. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png My Saturday is slated for GLC work. I just hope the weather holds up.

I found out that my fuel cell brackets don't work well when positioned for mounting from beneath. The cell is larger at the bottom where both halves were molded together. My solution was to heat up one of the bends of each bracket and flatten it, then reheat and rebend a little further down. I'll take up the slack with washers. I left the last one cooling in the garage and just stepped in for a bite and to catch up on the forums a little. I tried the first one on the cell and it fit perfectly. Then I set the other, still hot, on top of the first one, and they were like dead-even. I'll recheck them in a few minutes now that they're cool, but from the looks of things, my free hand bending technique seems to have worked well. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Perhaps my fuel cell didn't come from Summit? The flush mount cap says WISCO PRODUCTS... AUTOMOTIVE. Heh, whatever. No wait, I just found which cell I have (it came with the car, so I don't have any history on it). It's the 'Pro Street Cell with Sender' 16 gallon, 0-90ohm GM sender (which I rewired a little to make it compatible with my stock Mazda guage mwuhahaha!!! Real easy to mod, too), 25"x17"x9" with a 2" sump with two -8AN fittings and a -6AN fitting on top as a vent. Two versions: one with foam, one without. This cell has foam, so it was probably purchased as such. Wow, it costs $171.95. Not bad. My only complaint is that Summit says these cells have 360º recesses for mounting straps when they clearly do not fit right from below. Oh well, I fixed that little problem. That's the actual fun in a project like this. There's just so much customizing, that I'm not used to it. I'm more used to strictly mechanical type stuff. Cool learning experience. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
