30% of the rx8s sold have overheated and blown up = needs vented hood for air to escape, better ducting in front of the radiator would help too, but air gets into the engine bay and has no where to go.

The engine mounts are liquid and they arent stiff enough to keep the engine from torquing and cracking the lower intake mani on the subfram = needs stiffer engine mounts (we went a while without realizing the manifolds were cracked and all of our mounts were leaking on 3 cars)

what are you doing to these things? at the dealership level we havent seen any of that

30% BS head on over to the rx8club forum and look around. No one is experiencing this in the daily driver world.

Well, the guys at Racing Beat seem to think its a problem and in the racing world aftermarket radiators and oil coolers arent enough. It takes very well made and well designed ducting, an aftermarket radiator, and 4 oil coolers to keep these things going on a road course.

We have alot of rx8s at the mazda dealership here that have blown up.

If anyone here wants to modify or upgrade their car for hard driving, then i am telling you, cooling mods need to be done first. Then engine mounts, and whatever else you want can follow. If you do things in this order you will save yourself alot of trouble.

I am simply repeating what i have heard from talking to people who should know. I think 30% was probably an exaggeration, and i certainly hope so, but there are serious air flow problems in the engine bay.

i dunno, at this dealership we havent seen that at all. we have 1 here, looks like someone missed a shift or something, but other than that they seem to make really good track cars, we've got plenty of customers who track theirs....
