Arright well first off I work for "Whitmoyer Auto Group". We sell brand new Chevys, Fords, Mercurys, Lincolns, and Oldsmobiles. Route 230 in Mount Joy. YES THEY ARE ALL ON THE SAME LOT BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!! I can't believe that the thought of my FD stomping a Camaro is actually stirring up controversy here!! We've had new Z28's a while ago at the dealership, and they don't impress me in the slightest speed wise. They just feel and handle like big heavy tuna boats, and our GT Mustangs feel more like a sports car than the Z28's do. I don't like Camaros or Mustangs, but I will certainly give credit where credit is due, and that guy deserved none in my opinion. If every Z28 and Mustang GT, or whatever spanked every FD, than what the hell would be the point of the rotary??? No one would own one. The RX-7 is in every aspect a TRUE sports car, from speed, acceleration, handling, braking, and phenomenal great looks. The last thing we need from this is a huge thing where everyone blames everyone else for being biased against domestics and imports, I've personally had enough of that childish crap before from owning an Integra.. Again: My 94 R2 RX-7 spanked a camaro whether it was a RS, Z28, or SS. CASE CLOSED... If you don't believe me, than by all means, anyone with an FD try it yourself!! And happy hunting!!

I knew it was on then... We both punched the throttle at pretty much the same time, his lumbering behemoth and all its torque got the best of me for a few seconds and he got half a car length in front of me... But a 9000 rpm redline has its advantages. In fourth gear at about 7500, I shifted as fast as I could into fifth (which is a hard gear to get to fast), and reeled him in like a helpless dog. I was really surprised how fast I matched his speed and embarassed him in front of his girlfriend, as I gave his mullet wagon the ol' thumbs down as I blew by him. We kept at it in fifth for a about a mile and when I looked back and saw that he was behind me in my lane, 3 car lengths back, I decided to ease off a little. I pulled in the right lane, and slowed from my 140 mph sprint with him.
Honestly I wouldnt call that the *** whoop'n you make it out to be.

Hell, you went thru all of 3rd and 4th gear and didnt even start to reel him and pull on him till 5th gear.....which is cause he was in 6th gear which is about .5 gear ratio.

Anyway, a true beating would go something like this......you kicked from 70 and by 100 you pulled 2 cars, by the top of 4th (140mph) you had 7 cars and at that point there is no need to worry about 5th. THATS an *** whooping thats worth giving someone a thumbs down. Really no *** whooping is worth a thumbs down. Your not a true racer if you give people a thumbs down. I hope he doesnt stereotype RX7 owners based on you.

First off tell me where I ever said I was in 3rd?? I was cruising in 5th until the guy pulled beside me and nodded, then I down shifted into 4th, at 7500 in 4th I shifted into 5th. Once I got into 5th, it was over, he had nothing on me. And you make it sound like I was a 1/4 mile ahead of the guy. THE POINT IS YET AGAIN......... My FD is bone stock, this thing should have beaten me by the way it appeared and sounded, and it most certainly wasn't up to the task. As far as giving him the thumbs down....... C'mon!!! He started something he couldn't finish, bottom line: HE DESERVED IT!! And whoever said I was a racer?? I guess smoking a V8 on the highway automatically changes my name to Abel Ibarra?? Read more carefully next time and don't jump to conclusions.

My question: Why, if you shifted at 7500RPM did you reference the 9000RPM redline? Also, if your car is stock like you say, 9000 will land you a dead FD before long..

Now, on to the race. You races an aeroequipped V6. Had to be. I've owned 2 FD's and driven many as all my friends were able to afford them before me. They are NOT the god of all cars. Those V8's on the highway (especially the LS1) will give you a run. Torque. My first race was a WS6 (Commented earlier as bing "not much faster") walked me through 4th. They are fast. I beat my friends FD in my turbo GSR through 3rd gear.. 4th he pulled away, but you get the idea. Sure the FD is awesome.. But you can't make all kinds of crazy claims now that you own one. Late model Corvettes, Camaros and MUSTANGS handle just as well, and outpower stock and modded FDs. My FD was fast as hell for having stock twins and all the bolt ons... But still only faired average among the V8's..

Regardless, enjoy your car. I know you want to go out and race everything on the road.. It's understandable.. But just because you own 1993 Motor Trend Import of the year, doesn't mean **** 11 years later.

Ok... Back to the garage..

Like, whoa.. My first real race in the (at the time, bone stock) FD was from a dead stop against an NHRA Edition Trans Am.. We were neck in neck through 4th, I'm not sure how it compared to the WS6, though.. Hang on, I'll ask.

So, I asked him, he remembered the race and confirmed that we were pretty much dead even, with him pulling slightly at the top of 4th.. The NHRA T/A is (IIRC) rated 15hp lwer then the WS6, which makes them pretty damn close to the same car.

Now with my mods, I walk on Z06's; No joke.

Hrmm.. Then again, those are all N/A cars, which suffer more at this altitude than I do..
