wow.....time to smack down some ignorance

a z28 and a ss both have the same engine. The ss has the hoodscoop that is virtually worthless and a few other badges. It makes a lot more sense just to buy a z28 for much cheaper.

93-97 camaros had the lt1

98-02 camaros had the ls1

lt1's typically run from high 13's - low 14'

ls1's typically run from low 13's - high 13's BONE STOCK

Conclusion - if you raced a ss fbody and drug it's nuts on the highway it had to have been an aging lt1, ls1's are absolutely sick cars.

Well there you have it.. Those specs are close enough for me. If that's all the difference between a Z28 and an SS, you'd be pretty damn stupid to spend the extra $$$$ for a damn hood and badges. But all I can tell you about specifics on the car was the body kit, (factory or not) was much lower to the ground then a reg camaro. A lot more aero vents in the back, and front bumper. (I saw more of the front than the back ). And it had dual cowel scoops on the hood. It was ugly, it was obnoxious, and it put up a much weaker fight than I had expected. Really, my expectations were up there, and it was really disappointing to see a car that sounded and looked so fast, turn out to be so slow. Who knows, maybe the guy just can't drive??? Doesn't really matter, just chalk up another shaved mullet!!

It's really sad though. Camaros, and Stangs are never going to pull themselves out of the stereotypical Mullet crowd until their owners change.. Maybe mullets are required upon purchase, or maybe they just can't help but grow one after driving a vehicle with a redline close to a diesel...
i've owned a camaro before and know lots of people that have owned them and none of them have mullets, its a stereo type not the truth

Oh it was definitely an "SS" badge at least, a lot of body work too. He was running with Flowmasters, or a Borla exhaust and had a big gaudy Monster Tach. I really think, it was an "all show and no go, wish I had an SS but can't afford it yet" Camaro. There is a BIG problem where I live with people that do a lot of rebadging. I.E. EX civics with SI badges, wannabe "Cobra" Mustangs, and in this case, yeah prob a Z28 with SS badges. Being bone stock, I do agree that a TRUE SS would have been much faster. But I guess I will never know, unless I find him again and personally ask the guy. Hey either way, he walked away with his mullet between his legs!!
Dude i call bs on the story. SS or Z28 the car is putting down between 300-320 rwhp, and that equals a lot of rice kicking ***. I've driven one of them cars and they still pull at 140, top out in the 160's 170's. My guess is the ***** either didn't know how to drive, or just didn't wanna waste his time on a ricer.

AAHHHHHHH HA HA!!! YEAH RIGHT PAL!! IT WAS SLOW!! Dude I work, at a Ford/Chevy dealership, and I'm telling you they are slow. I've driven all but an SS, and I'm not impressed. I'm not saying all domestics are slow, I'm not one of those types. A guy I work with has a Cobra and it scares the **** out of me. And don't ever stereotype a Rotary as a rice machine, it's pure technological genius!! Believe what you will too, doesn't mean **** to me....... You probably missed a few minutes of some tractor pull on tv by posting that..

Sorry man, I don't know what to tell you then... It was a camaro, true SS or not, it had SS badges on it. We both stomped it, and the big ox couldn't take my FD. Simple as that. The point I'm making is, I DO believe it was a rebadged car. One of my friends that I was headed up to school with rides a 99 GTI VR6, he told me when we got to school that he tore the very same guy up a few weeks earlier. Granted he has a few mods, but I have beaten him too. I'm not making my RX-7 out to be the fastest thing in the world, nor am I saying Camaros are the slowest, but my car was faster than his, and I was smart enough not to drive by an onramp doin 140. Besides that, I would bet money on ANYONES FD against a Z28 anyday. Especially after that encounter!

I highly doubt that either Ford or GM would allow each other to be tied together by a single dealership, so what's the name of it. Plus, if you're stock and this was an SS, he'd have put up a fight or beaten you.

Don't rag on cars you don't like. SS' and Cobra's are fast cars, only in a straight line though. And for that reason, I don't like them very much. If they could handle like an FD, I'd give them a lot more props then I do now.
