you said that you did some riceing in the past... then you listed motor swap, auto to manual swap, turbo, and lowered suspension. Those are all serious performance pieces not worthless big bodykits, altezzas, and fart can which constitutes rice. A nicely modded civic with a nice engine and a turbo is NOT RICE. Just because it is a civic doesn't make it a ricer, it all depends with what you do to it. And no I have never had a honda and have no intention of ever buying one.

Well, you are sorta right

My car was the '90 Civic HB; I had the cut aftermarket springs, the 99+ Si rims, front aftermarket bumper (only), dents & unpainted fender (at one time). My first swap was within the same yr/high model engine+ 5spd , and ran me ~$2200. A couple of years later I slapped on a small turbo but didn't have any ecu to go with it (~$2800). Of course, it blew the motor in 1 month, which is when I went for the 2nd engine swap (another ~$3k). All together I spent many times what the car was worth, trying to make do with what I had.

This is why I am sympathetic to him & other ricers; they have no choice but to play make-believe. They can't afford good taste

BTW, the car was still only about as fast as new Prelude, which should be a little slower than an n/a FC.

*Back then, the rage was red'd out taillights. I'm ashamed to admit that I partook in that fad. SHHH!

I want a minitruck again..

anyways.. just tell him to get some tunes and keep his car looking stock.. tell him that if he starts adding stuff to it, it might get stolen, especially when he goes to school.. and he will loase his $$$... also tell him if he does get a sound system, that he should not show it off when he gets a few blocks from school.... or tell him to sell it and get a Geo Metro..
