Need Advise/help!
Sup everyone,
I have a coworker @ my p/t job. He is 17, going to be a Sr. when school starts, drives an Accord automatic ~'97-99 model (prob lx). He's only been working there for ab out 4-5 months now, so still earns minimum wage. So far he's changed his taillights to the "altezza" crap & had a cheap universal muffler/tip swapped on.
Every time I work with him, he asks what he should do to his car; he seems determined to do either some audio mods such as amp/speakers/box, *thinks* he wants to do a tranny swap, rims, or bodykit. Of course I tell him not to bother doing anything, since he doesn't make much, & will go to college soon. I do feel hypocritical though, since I was doing my share of ricing way back in the day when I had a civic (2 engine swaps, auto-to-manual, turbo, cut springs, etc). Who am I really to prevent him from spending his hard-earned $$? Why should my taste affect what he does to his car?
A part of me just wants to let it go, and be happy for him. The other part of me wants to pressure him (aka make fun of him) until he stops. Most likely he will just keep doing what he wants, only he won't come to me anymore for thoughts/ideas/help.
I've already lost 2 co-workers to the rice side, so I kinda don't want to do it again
*btw, he thinks changing rims requires removing the axles, tranny, etc.
Sorry for making this long, but hope to hear some ideas

**edit: i meant "advice" :P

tell him to get a stereo - and hang on to the stock spkrs. chances are, he'll buy another honda down the road, and chances are, if he buys some nice speakers, he'll be able to transplant them into a later honda. He needs to hang onto the stock system so he can reuse it when he gets rid of the Accord
nothing wrong with accords really....... good reliable cars.
they can look good sometimes.
if he insists on keeping the accord just steer him in the right direction with it.
subtle stuff that will look good........ like no combat wing or neon washer nozzles.

I've been trying to turn him away from mod'ing anything on the car at all, cuz I know he's gonna need a lot of cash for stuff like prom, going out, etc; even more so in his 1st yr @ college.
I'm doing my best, but I don't want to decide for him.
BTW, he makes ~ $100 bi-weekly. Only thing he can really afford are things like $80 altezza's
