Well the first thing that i would do is change the oil because i don't trust what people say! But to the care of the car and motor there is really nothing to do but keep an eye on the oil because it oil thru the nikki carb (engine still orgn.) so check oil, belts etc.... and look over car well for first time and replace any thing that is a maint item. i personally just keep the maint. end up on my and make sure everything is in tip top cond. one a month. But i never heard of the special care rule!! BUT HEY WHO AM I TO JUDGE!!

but good luck bro and welcome to the rotary world!!!

got a 79 myself. The 79 seem to be through the worst of the worn...but there is always hope!! Do ALL I MEAN ALL THE MAINTANCE first. New plugs, plug wires, oil, oil filter, transmission oil, fuel filter, air filter, brake pads, UPGRADE STRAIT TO A ELECTRONIC DIZZY WILL SAVE ALL SORTS OF TIME AND FRUSTRATION, timing adjustments( you need atiming light for that), BUY A CHILTON/HANES MANUEL, it will be a saving grace I SWEAR BY THIS STATEMENT. Anyway that is my 2 cents...
