I had a del sol there were some things that I liked about it 1. it always ran 2. I liked the seats 3. it had great gas mileage the reason most people buy a honda. The things I didn't like just out numbered the things I did like. Even though it was 160 horse it was only 111 ft lbs of torque at 7 grand which meant you had to drop the clutch pretty hard to get it going which meant I went through a few clutches but also meant very little torque steer. It really didn't handle all that well on a trip through the twisties I would gladly take my 7 instead and if the road was wet and I was pushing very hard it was actually a little unpredictable. I chose my 7 over the del sol and sold it to my mother but it has almost 200,000 on it and still runs as well as the day I bought it. I did however get tired of being told I drove a ***** car. ^_^

Ok, let me throw my opinion in the ring...and sorry if I repeat something that has already been saidbefore I start rambling, I have driven a vtec del slow, I have been over 120 in it, I have been over 140 in a 2nd NA rx7)

Ok, the 2nd gen rx7 DOES handle better then the del sol, I'm sorry..the del sol is a better off the line suspension, but I've had both on the mountains in Va and I would trust my life to the seven before the honda. Second, the rx7, regardless of generation is mazda's flagship, the parts they put into the car were the best they offered at the time and the rx7 is very unique. You see TONS of civics and del sols all over the place! The del sol is too much money..tell your friend to come down some, there are three about 2 blocks from me that are mid 90s all under 5K. Third, the rx7 is a SPORTS car, the del sol is not. The rx7 is ROTARY the del sol is not. If you start to modify the del sol you will quickly be saddened with the outcome...they are **** to mod...pickup the new SCC magazine(I think its that one) they have a fully built del sol in there w/ turbo etc and it was NOT worth the money! You can build an all motor reliable rx7 for 6K...don't become one of those ricer guys that us rx7 guys pick on...we have faith in you...don't stray away! When somebody says, "Hey, what do you drive" If you reply "a del sol" they'll be like "MMMMWWWAAAAHHAHAHAHAAAAA"...I'm sorry, it's just not a highclass car. If you had said Rx7, they'd quiver w/ fear..

BTW, the del sol I drove was owned by a GIRL i dated for about a week, hey..she drove a honda...no way was that relationship going past a week, lol

As long as she got rid of it, you'll be fine! We all make mistakes--some people shoplift, some people drive hondogs. With some tough love, they can be rehabilitated.

i agree to exactly what you said, allthough i do still like hondas. to teach his own is my way of thinking, but the del sol idea is long gone now, you can all reast easy at night, knowing i wont stray away from rotary, lol piece
