i don't knwo about that...i mean, you buy a fc with a blown engine, lets jsut say for 1000 cause the body is really nice, 3000 will get u a lt1 with a t-56, then the kit to do it, lets say u wanna keep ac and p/s, 1000, so that is a total of 5000, u let someone do the work for u(i have no idea how much taht would cost), but lets just say 2000, so that is 7000, that leave 8000 to put into the engine, a set of heads will get u around 100hp for like 2000, then 5000 let over, supercharger...i'd say that would be good for about 500-600 whp, reliable to, plus nice burnouts
K let's plug a 2400$ 3 rotor in the place of yoru lt1.

Again from a person that just finished a FD LS1 swap, which I replaced everthing on the car including suspension fuel line etc which was not necessary, I have about 14-15k in the car total counting the cost of the car.

Car- $5000 no engine or tranny

Engine/tranny- $4000 2001 ls1 (already with ls6 intake)

Subframe and mounting- $1000

Cooling system - ~$600

Driveshaft $100

Clutch stuff- $300

Custom exhaust $900

CAI- $200

Misc hoses belts wiring etc $1000

I can send copies of the receipts if you want them or I could itemize everything but thats about it.

Plus a lot of sweat and patience.

Result- racing a "BPU" 7 on street tires at the strip and beating him on a Stock LS1 and I weigh 43 lbs less than the advertised weight of a 7. I put in racing seats so it is probably a wash for weigh.

Here she is installed!!

After reading the whole post I disagree in many things...

1 My old 13B P port did burn-out easy and it didn't have 500 to 600 rwhp and It was a very reliable motor.

2 With my new motor i've got 510rwhp and it's only from a 80ci motor.

I would never get a V8. After racing many V8 with the same HP as mine and seeing the look on there faces when I beat them makes me proud of owning a rotary.

Fair enough that a V8 has more torque but I'm not towing anything.

And to finish, Still today my best race was against an Rx3 that had a 350ci in it and the guy got pissed when I told him that the reason he lost was because he remove the real motor out.

He still can't beat me...

Thank you TyresmokinRx7 that is classic.

So the swap more realistically costs 10K? Fine, thats a far cry from the $3500 quoted before.

you should send out ur engine right now then, granny's shop sells a kit for a LS1 for 500 i believe, and u can get a LS1 and t-56 on ebay for around 3000, if u do the work urself, thats 3500, no if my memory serves me correctly, to rebuild my engine(91 n/a), its about 3500, so to do a new 13B-REw...gotta be more, so join the crowd, get a v8

I dont see why you would be so pround, I have a 1.3 litre engine how big is yours??

I have an engine that no other car on the road has unless it has the name Mazda on it. That means a lot to me. If I wanted a light fast piston powered car I would own a TVR. Like this:

Your V-8 swaps costs as much as a 20B swap. I would prefer to be unique and keep a rotary in my car.

a 20b wou7ld mess with the weight dist. and i later corrected myself, i said 4000, engine and tranny for 3000 and the kit is a 1000, so if u do the work urself....4000, and if u get a engine pullout from one car, u don't need a clutch, so that'll save some cash. and ur about being unique, i think a rx7 with a v-8 is unique, i barely see rx7s, let alone rx7s with v8s. also, where have there been 20bs for 2400, i've seen them for 5000+?

These guys sell engines:

You have to call for a price though:

http://www.fc3s.org/engines/used_j_spec_engines.html

Corksport sells them too:

http://www.corksport.com

They tend to be more expensive though. They want $3999.

Personally I would go for a 13B-RE for $2200 you can easily get over 400 HP out of it.

Like I said if big horsepower #'s are all you are looking for go for the V-8. I don't think thats uniqe, you have a piston engine like every other car in my book.

also, if i put in a lt1, that is 285(base model) right off the back, add a set of heads, or soemthing of that sort for cheap, and u can get 400 cheaper than a 13b, and its not peaky hp....not to mention...u take a stock 13b....the only way to get 400 hp is a turbo kit, that is gonna be atleast 2000
