V8's are for people who have no clues.

I mean anyone can go buy a LS1 and put the normal bolt on stuff and get tons of power. And plus I like bragging around whenever my little 1.3 liter beat the crap out of some 5.7liter stang or something.

that wasn't my original intention, people said that the rotary engine is unqie, i said a rx7 with a v-8 is uniquer, i could care less about being unique, or having poeple look at my car, if u read any of my posts, i'm trying to replace my engine, the most cost effective way, and try to get some performance...i don't get it...if you don't like the idea, don't read the posts...everyone is just looking to argue

well, anyone can just go to kd rotary, or some otehr good shop, and give them lots of cash...whats your point?....v8s can be jsut as technically advanced as rotaries...haven't u seen nascar?....10,000 rpms.....500 miles at a time siting around 9-10k rpm? no cheap...but there is potential in every engine, you people are to closed minded

just the fact that you said nascar, and v8 in one sentence is reason enought to stick with the rotary

a rx7 with a v-8 is uniquer
you mean "more unique"?

your obviously not looking for the most effecient way to get your car going again, because anyone that has done an engine swap before knows that when you change engines you are going to run into a hundred discrepencies between the two motors in which you are going to have to eliminate, or fab something. The cheapest way is to replace it with an identicle, running motor.

Dude your obviously young so I'm not trying to kick you in the nuts, but what in the hell kind of response did you think you were going to run into asking about a v8 swap on "nopistons.com"??? The engine swaps section is there for swaping between different year rotary cars. Not everything has to do with a v8. There is a website www.v8rx7.com I know a couple of the guys and they are cool. You will get much more morale support over there. Plus they have done the swap before so they can give you advise. Good luck.

Aight to clarify this I am buying an LS1 Corvette motor then a t56 tranny from a firebird...the corvette dosen't have a transmission it has a transaxle....Talk **** about the v8 if you wanna now...I will talk to you this spring...beside if I don't like it I can always sell it and buy a 3-rotor...you say its not all about horsepower like your talking to an idote...come to vt and race our 73 horsepower car in a autocross and well hand it to you without breaking a sweat...Besides LS1 has forged pistons and all the good stuff...ordered a lunatti cam, rockers, valve springs and retainers...drivetrain stuff for you rotary people . Everyone here is all talking **** about my rotary and his rotary and my brothers sisters cousins rotary...fact is I have seen very few people really show me what their car will do...then agian chevvy people are the same way...like I said I will post more info on the swap after christmas break and I will be at the tracks around VA and tennesse this summer...if your rotary is so damn fast I'll expect to see you, your tri-rotar swap and all 5 million psi of boost there I'll bring my car, my street gas and forget to feather my clutch when I pull into the track but for me it will be not to spin the tires instead of not kill my car ...
I have no idea whare you just popping in from but here we go.

I won ASP Championship last year in my TII against Covettes (Z-06) and Vipers .

I am winning the BP Championship this year and only attended 1/2 the events. Everytime I show up I win.

I consistantly get FTD (Fastest Time of the DAY) at the Autocrosses no matter where I go. I beat the cars a class above me in AP which are Factory Five Cobras running both small block and big block V-8's and weigh 500lbs. less than me.

So what do you want to do to me with your 73HP car?? The guys in SM2 dont want me to get DOT tires next year and race in their class becaue they know I will beat them. That includes done up CRX's and Turbo MR-2's.

I won 3rd place in Mazda Rev It UP in Miami FLorida out of 1500 competitors including the like of Disimo King and maybe you have read this guys articles in Sports Car Magazine, Danny Shields.

Still want to challenge me? There willbe a Rotary Challenge in Atlanta next year come on out and we can battle. Hell I'll even race you in 1/4 mile after I destroy you in Autocross. You might want to put in a V-10.

Hey man I an a LS1 FD guy myself but the reality is there are zero LS1's running around with 500rwhp NA!! I think the biggest numbers are around 470 and that is everything done to it not just heads. HEADS DONT ADD 100 HP!! More like 40-50. A typical heads/cam LS1/LS6 is putting down between 420-460RWHP. which aint to bad.

You are fighting a losing battle here. You will NEVER convince rotary guys that a LS1 FD is better than a rotary. No matter how many points you bring up they pull some far off example so they can feel like they shot you down.

Seriously if you want advice or any point of view other than rotary check out www.torquecentral.com there are a bunch of LS1 FD and FC guys over there.

A 20B swap is a terrible idea do you all realize you have to cut the firewall for that?? and the weight is all IN FRONT of the front axle. and that it weighs more than a LS1 when you factor in everything??

If I was gonna spend the $$ on a 20b I would just build a really strong 13b and boost the hell out of it.

HP # ARE JUST FOR SHOW. Once you get above a certain level it is just to much to have on the street for sure then all you have left is the track and that is for us mullet heads anyway right?

NaughtyFD - the argument is whether its cheaper to just throw in a V-8. This guy is under the impression he is going to drop in a V-8 for less than 5K. I say no way. As far as if its better than a rotary? Well, your asking the wrong person. I bought an RX-7 for its engine. If I wanted a piston engined sports car I would have bought one, and have, I just sold my mustang and bought a Mini. So I am not totally anti-piston.

Um our 73hp car pulls 1.4 G's on the skidpad and does 0-60 in 3.4 while your rx might out accellerate it by a small margin it will in now way, shape, or form out handle our car...talk about power in small packages it has a .6 liter engine..

ALSO to clarify I am not arguing about which is better, which is cooler or which is more unique I am stating what I have done and what I plan to do in the future. Its a learning experience and will be a fun install...A rotary can be tuned to produce alot of hp just like a chev 5.7 or a 2.0 mitsu...simple fact is I don't KNOW (admission that I am not all knowing, frame it) as much about rotaries and no one in my area does that I know of. Fact is all engines have advantages and disadvantages fans and opponents... all engines can make hp and all engines can blow up... to everyone that drives rotary to everyone who is inventive.

JIMS5543 I may have seen your car before...

What is this 73 HP car anyway??

Whare have you seen me. GIR?? Sebring??

Have I met you?

Again all I am arguing is that it will not cost $5K to swap in a V-8. Period.

I am a car nut I love all cars.
