It's your rubber suspension bushings. They deflect under load and snap back (like a spring). That's why replacing them with solid tie rod ends like the M2 setup works.
I think that the wheel hop comes from certain types of street tires and it's magnified by the rubber bushings.

hop can break, diff, axles, ppf ......

if my experience.... when you dump the clutch street tires hop. if you want to launch hard on street tires you gotta slip the clutch. i hate slipping the clutch because burnt clutch smells horrible and i am not very good at it
That would explain some things...

vosko,

after replacing your PPF, did you still have the Pettit on? in your opinion did you think it provided any benefit or noticeable difference (once your PPF was fixed)? Before your Pettit did you already have upgraded rear suspension (sway bars, toe links, etc.)?

Is there any benefit to slightly different tire pressures in rear vs. front?

thanks,

fritz

When I first bought my car, it had only a mazdaspeed ppf...and lauching on street tires, I wheel hopped bad.

Then I bought the K2rd TL/TA kit and wheel hopp lessened quite a bit. After that, I got Nitto's for the rear, and that helped out a bit as well. Now I'll be installing a Cusco Diff/4.777 final gear and we'll see how my wheel hop goes.
