what causes this
and why are FD's so wheel hop happy |
well its basically something (the spring?) is getting compressed and it springs back and forth. i dunno why they are so wheel hop happy, my guess would be geometry

thanks...... just a curiousity quesition....... the only thing i knew about it is it breaks your car....hehe
|
It's your rubber suspension bushings. They deflect under load and snap back (like a spring). That's why replacing them with solid tie rod ends like the M2 setup works.
|
i get no hop with my M&H race tires. i do get hop with the street tires :(
|
Anyone have any feedback on the launch kits made for street use ? I think Pettit makes one . I am not sure this is the same as the M2 set up Tyson mentioned .
|
i have the pettit. it helped when i did it but i also had a broken PPF at the time.... i have found out its basically pointless to launch the car on street tires. when you are on race tires they absorb more of the impact, don't hop, don't break anything, and you launch faster !

So your sayin if i launch my car with street tires on it at say o 3000 RPM i am going to get hop? Is thsi true and what kind of damage does it do?

hop can break, diff, axles, ppf ...... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR
if my experience.... when you dump the clutch street tires hop. if you want to launch hard on street tires you gotta slip the clutch. i hate slipping the clutch because burnt clutch smells horrible and i am not very good at it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |
slipping the clutch is way better than a broken ppf, axel, or diff
