just so you guys know, there are about 5 different gm map sensors, and they give different voltage readings.

my car was using gm 12223861, and fortunately the one the haltech uses is almost the same, it gave different vac reading when the car is not running... the one in my car read -6 and haltech one read -25

i found out because i bought a brand new one and it read +1.25

i guess any would be good as long as the pfc is set for the certain one and with the proper offset.

update on this whole dilema,

after installing the new map sensor i blew it again after 50 miles of driving, after much research i found out that the map sensor wiring run through the driver side wheelwell, when i reached into my wheelwell, i felt that a lot of wires were exposed and possibly causing a short.

so i repaired the wires (in both sides of the car) and made sure its secured where tires cant reach them, its been about 50 miles of driving since, and my new map sensor is still working

yep common problem especially if the car was lowered and wheel was rubbing the liner. That harness that runs through the wheelwell is the heart of the electrical system

On a serious note, your problems sorta sound like mine... I wonder if something's up with my map sensor because it sounds almost identical to yours.

do you have a power fc? if you dont, you can check the voltage that the signal wire is sending out. crank the car and see if the voltage changes...or even unplug the hose for the map sensor, and blow and suck on the hose, and check voltage while you are doin that
