Hi guys, I picked up a Torsen LSD for my N/A, here is a quick picture of it.

Anyway, about a year ago, I bought a GTUs 4.3 rear end off of someone from another forum. Here is a picture of that, that I just opened up the other day..

Now my question is, can anyone confirm for me that the LSD in the 2nd picture is definately a viscous LSD? Also, If I count the number of teeth on the ring gear, and divide by the number of teeth on the pinion gear, will that give me the gear ratio of the rear end? I just want to make sure that this is actually a 4.3 GTUs rear end before I go putting my Torsen into it. Thanks alot..

To find the ratio of the R&P gears...

R

----- = G

P

so, let's say there is 12 teeth on the pinion and 36 on the ring it would look like this.

36

------ = G

12

Devide both top and bottom to cancel out the 12 so we how have...

3

----- = G

1

And written as a ratio, 3:1

Just replace your ring and pinion teeth count, and there you have it. As for the ID of the LSD you are looking for. All we can see in the pic is the spyder gears. the LSD unit it's self is hidden from view.
