sucks about the overheating in the GLC, the repu with a 20B would be insane, i'd do it!

i've got a 71 beetle now, that i'm trying to figure out what to do with, my daily driver is a 1990 nissan pathfinder, which is great except the gas mileage... my beetle gets 31 on the highway, my pathfinder is averaging 15 between city and highway... horrible. i'd like to put something crazy in my bug like a large porsche engine, but i'll probably wind up going with a 1915cc motor and turboing it, i've still got a garrett turbo sitting in my garage, good for about 250-300hp...

i'm also considering getting another Turbo II, but i don't know, if i do it won't be for a while, i just recently got a job working in a high end furniture factory, the pay is good, and the hours are there, so maybe i'll be able to afford to do all the stuff i want to one day, but i also want to be able to build guitars in my spare time(its what i went to school for from february to june), so i got to juggle things...

I know I can't get the white '79 as there are too many cars around here already. Plus it's probably gone (it was a parts car lol, but only missing the engine and a front fender). If I can't find another white 1st gen in time, the 20B will go into the REPU. All that's left to figure out are how and where to route the brake lines on the firewall. Maybe move them up above where the UIM would normally sit? I didn't have that problem in the GLC.

WOW.You have alot on the go and I thought I was bad for multiple projects.Do you think that changing to another chassis will help keeping the 20B cool?I think anyway you approach it you are looking at a bit time 3 core rad custom made to fit the chassis it will live in.I mean fill the front frame horns all the way up to the hood with rad.Good luck my friend. This is a awesome thread with lots of info and tech in it.I have learned lots of cool stuff here and sure lots of other people can say the same.

I have something like 8 vehicles to get going by the end of the year. I think changing to another chassis will keep the 20B cooler. Besides the GLC could get away with a smaller engine and still be a blast of fun to drive. If I put the 20B into a 1st gen, I think the tall 2 core rad with the oil cooler out in front (GSL-SE style) could work. If not, I'll get a custom tall 3 core rad.

You're welcome. I may start a new thread detailing the 20B install in something else.
