I found out RX-7 springs will fit my car front and rear. Now I need to save up even more to get some aftermarket springs (and 1" spacers for the front).

Is the tr3 a heavier car than the FD?

The 13B cast iron exhaust manifold weighs 21.5 which is the same as the 20B header I made! Again, the 20B header is better because most of its weight is behind the engine rather than concentrated right off to the side.

I'm feeling confident that the weight over the front wheels will break even.

I pulled the 13B today. Next step is to mod the tranny tunnel to fit the starter better. I might have to redo the gas pedal. I also need to make a heat shield for the idler arm.

I pulled the tranny today. I'll start on the tranny tunnel mods next week.

I also got a '79-'82 (serviceable, small flange) driveshaft that somebody had already swapped in some GMB U-joints. I painted it up today and it's looking pretty good. The small flange bolts right up to the GLC diff. I only have one concern which is the driveshaft is 10mm longer than optimal. It is 150mm shorter than the GLC shaft. The perfect number is 160mm. Then again, the GLC shaft seemed like it was a little too short in the first place, but I could be wrong. I'll just have to see how the 1st gen shaft fits when everything is in place.

Why didn't I just get the GLC shaft shortened? The GLC's U joints are very tiny. The RX-7 shaft was only $25.00 and should handle 200-250HP just fine.

I picked up a throw-out bearing today. I also got a clutch release fork for my other ribcase four speed. I have like six pre '79 ribcases now. I'm rolling in ribcases. peejay is so jealous!

Same diameter slip yoke and same size rear flange. Only the length and diamter of the shaft itself are different. As are the U-joints. Mazda likes that parts bin, which makes my job easier.

Just another update. I opened up the area near the gas pedal to fit the oil filter blockoff and the starter. I'll see if I can install the tranny and possibly the engine today to see what more needs to be trimmed.

I also have an REPU to work on, so it just depends on the weather.

I really opened up the rest of the tranny tunnel today. I was tired of fiting the limited space. It'll also be a lot easier to patch it up with flat sheets instead of trying to weld all the little strips back together. I think I'll use angle irons to build a basic frame and then tack sheets of various shapes and sizes here and there. It's how the Aussies do their 20B powered RX-3s.
