Weird Starting Prob

i have am 85 12a i live in southdakota and it is pretty cold here now but my r x starts easily in the morning i will drive it to school and in an hour i go eat breakfast when i start it after the hour of sitting there it is hard to start and i have to pump hell out of it and it is still hard when i go to breakfast and it sits for 15-20 min it starts right up some one said something about turning the mixture thing 3/4 turn counter clockwise i did and all it did is make it idol faster and start harder i donno if it helps but recentallt i started kinda backfirinf when i shut it off it isnt a loud back fire but just a little pop thanks for any help

if it starts that good first thing your dist cap may be getting some moisture or may not be a vented cap see if it has a vent or just spray the cap with some wd-40 or any of that spray that dries ign. parts

do you use the choke on restarts?

Check to see if the cap and rotor on the dizzy are in good shape.I know if the rotor is starting to get bad thats one of the first signs.

are the roter and distributer cap something that is eary to replace or do you have to time it again

i do use the choke does nay one know where to get the dist or roter oem or aftermarket and how much $ are they thank you

Yeah,The rotor sits under the distributor cap and pulls off.The cap just unclips from the dizzy and mark where the plug wires went to get it right when you install a new one.You also should have to choke the car if the engine isn't cool anymore.You should only need the choke if the car is cold.
