Okay well if it's weldable I can get that done no problem. Thanks for the advice.

As far as the alternator though...

I realize that, but maybe I don't understand English to well:

Wiring the white/blue wire is cake, but the white/black, WTF?

It gets wired to the spot where the other alternator was wired to? If so, I just cut the female connector off the harness and just connect the white/black on the pigtail to the white/black in the harness?

I R DUM.

Maybe I'm just dumb, but that alternator page doesn't make any sense to me. My posts are starting to sound like I'm a big whiner, but I would really like someone to tell me how to do this, haha.

I can see where the pigtail from the 12a alternator hooked into the wiring that's in the engine bay (not on the wiring harness, because that's gone). Now, the new pigtail I have, the wires, are significantly smaller than what I believe are the corresponding wires in the engine bay. In other words, how can the white/blue wire possible

There are two female plugs in the engine bay that both *could* have been used for the 12a alternator. The wires going into these plugs are probably like 12awg while the pigtail wires are like 18awg, which makes me thinking I'm looking in the wrong spot. It's as if the guide is written for people replacing the alternator ONLY, not the ummm engine/trans/etc.

Connecting the white/blue wire is easy, but what's the purpose of the white/black wire?

For the 12A alternator:

B/W (L terminal): Alt idiot light

W/B (R terminal): Switched ignition source

Output post

For S5 and later alts:

B/W (L terminal): Alt idiot light

W/L (S terminal): Constant ignition source

Output post

This page may help a bit too:

http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/showthread.p...25&pagenumber=5

So, if you have the right plug, you just need to connect the B/W wire with the B/W pigtail. The W/L pigtail goes to a constant ignition source. This wire can connected to the factory fuse box or just run a wire from the battery + terminal with an inline fuse. The fuse doesn't have to be very big as the wire only draws fairly low current (5 amp fuse would probably do it). Then just connect the alt output to the main fusible link, the main fuse if you have a 2nd gen fuse box, or put a fuse inline and connect to the battery + terminal. If you go with an inline fuse, the fuse should be rated at 80 amp or so, depending on you alt. I used an 8 ga. wire for the alt output terminal when I put a S5 alt into my GSL-SE.
