At the moment I have a straight through exhaust with RB road race header and a rb muffler and need to pass emissions soon.

What exactly do I need to pass emissions ?

I would liek to keep the rb road race header/muffler combo and start over from ther, I have been getting tired of the straight through sound and would like whatever exhaust setup I go with to pass emissions and last for a few years along with being on the quite side. Am I being reasonable thinking that this is possible ?

-thanks aaron

ive passed smog with a header before. you need about 2-3 things to pass

1. air pump. air pump air needs to go to the exhaust ports, like the factory has it. acv either needs to work like stock, or be shimmed or something

2. decent cat. the efi cars almost dont need a cat, the carbed cars run richer and need a better one

thats it! if you're feeling pro active clean oil, oil filter, good spark plugs, air filter etc etc all help

I emailed ReSpeed with the same question a week or so ago, and they said that all you really need is a NEW cat that doesn't use a smog pump. They suggested random technology. So i called them and they said that with their cat the car should not only pass but would last far longer and be more efficent then a OEM version due to the fact that they use stainless instead of ceramic. Cheers

with the air pump blowing into the exhaust ports, it doesnt matter, you almost dont need the cat at all
