Well, my '84 project car needs more extensive "chassis" repair than what I wanted to deal with. I need two new front fenders, a bumper and paint... it was a good project and by all means could be repaired and finished. HOWEVER, while looking for parts I came across a little "gem" for less than what the parts cost to fix the '84, so I did the sensible thing and bought the new car.

It is an '85 GSL with 81,xxx original miles on it. Seems to have almost all the options including power steering, etc. And its black, which I always liked black FBs more. It was owned by a family who bought it for the daughter to drive in college. It had a "flooding issue" and was basically abandoned at a mechanics shop. The car was garaged kept up until the last three years its been sitting at the shop outside (luckily not in grass). It was backed into on the passenger side and the shop repaired/repainted the fender, so its a solid body. With the low mileage it has practically NO rust (a small 1/2" spot on the drivers fender) and a cleaner interior.

I am now using the car to complete my original goal and it will accept my full bridge 12a that I am building for the white car. The white car has a running engine w/ 134K on it that I will now be selling. I'm pulling the driveline (rear dif, trans, etc) out as spare parts and the car will go away . I hate not finishing a project, but the car needs a lot of work.

Here are some pics of the new FB and I'll post some pics up as I get working on it.

BTW, the paint is actually pretty faded on the car, but thanks to rain, it looks great in the pics

BTW... can anybody tell me whats up w/ my cars brown and red interior?

I've seen the all red leather and the all red cloth interiors before.. but this one is odd... doesn't bother me.. I kind of like the red honestly... but just wasnt sure it means something.. i havent gone through all the paper yet. It's build date was January of 85 though..

You know, I love the FD don't get me wrong... I will have one eventually, but its easier to work on the older ones (and cheaper) and you get the same, if not better, performance.

My FC will have an FD heart eventually just without the damn PPF!

My goal is to someday have a few of each generation with appropriate models... my next purchase is either going to be an s4 vert or a s5 t2, whichever cleaner one I find first I guess...

The red fades to brown on the plastic part of the door panels, the shifter ****, shifter boot, emer brakes handle.

I figured it was faded, lol. My buddy has an '85 gsl-se with red interior and his is much more "red" then mine, lol...

Don't know if it bothers me enough to change though, I do have an extra black sparco seat I can get my hands on for cheap that I'll use for driving events, but the rest of the interior is fine for now - I'll probably just sell the car later and I'd rather sell it with original interior, etc.

Doing a motor swap on it this weekend. The engine that was in it was stuck, I got it unstuck but it has no compression on the front rotor. My white donor car has a good compression stock 12a ..so i'm just going to throw that in for now...
