what is this premix you speak of?
Rotary engine's need a bit of oil squirted onto the apex seals to keep them from seizing themselves to the rotors when the exhaust temps get too hot. There are two methods, Oil metering pumps and premixing. OMP is electrical/mechanical controlled and uses engine oil to lubricatate the apex seals by inserting it into the rotor housing on the intake side. Premixing is adding 2 stroke oil to your gasoline and having your injectors inject oil into the engine when they fire.

I do both. I have my OMP turned up on my PFC and run 4 ounces per tank of gas(not enough for true premixing.)

I see.... and ceramcs are self lubricating right. Btw when you put oil in gas, I mean they dont have the same density so one floats on top of the other right?

two cycle oil is a suspension oil meaining that it mixes with the gas and stays "suspended" for months (depending on the quality of the two stroke oil) with out being stirred by driving

regulaur oil does not mix with gas

Yeah, make sure its 2-stroke oil so it burns clean.

One of the 1st gen guys tried using MMO and it was smoking like a bush banger.

I've been running 1oz per gallon for about 3 years w/ NO OMP....Can I get away with 8oz per tank w/ NO OMP for normal street driving?

The of course I'd up the amount for the track

depends on the quality of the two stroke oil.

Lots of people say that any would do, but there are differences in quality, just like the differences in motor oil.

I'm using amsoil 100:1 premix, when Jims5543 was using it he used about 5 oz's per tank full. The reason being is that amsoil is a very concentrated mix.

the reason they call it 100:1 is because in normal premixing conditions a lot of 2 stroke dirt bikes, you would mix like 40:1, but this oil is designed to run less oil, but still lubricate better than a "wal-mart" brand.

valid point! so I could use the Amsoil and run about 5oz -8oz per tank? I have some of that oil at home too.... I should try it, but let me know if the numbers above are close to satifactory

8 oz per take full is more than enough with amsoil, jims5543 would fould his plugs (10's) anytime that he would try 128:1 (1 oz:1 gallon) on the street. That's a good mix for race use because there's not chance for it to build up on the plugs.

8 oz per 11 gallons is a nice figure. They even sell small 8 oz bottles of it, so you never have to have an opened bottle of premix in your car (can make a mess)

long trips without too many redline trips you could easily use 4 oz a tank full, that's what jims is using now.
