S5 Electrical Omp, W/ Mech. Omp Front Cover.
#1
Is it possible to get a mechanical OMP to work on the s5 engine? I would take the stock electrical one and mount it somewhere discretely, w/ all the holes plugged off.
If i were to use it, i would have to drastically modify the front plate to get it to fit, plus then other parts like oil return line wouldnt be in the right place.
So can the gsl-se front cover's OMP work?
Thanks

Because the car its going into is a gsl-se, and the 1st gen mountin points require the use of the gsl-se oil pan and front cover.
Is it easy to attach the mechanical OMP to the s5 engine and have it do the same thing?

no. You would need to machine the OMP mount area down 1/2"; wels a new plate on that has been machined for a S$ OMP; have the plate milled flat to remove any warping on the plate. Drill and tap the mounting holes and then verify the flange face hieght was the same as the stock flange. Estimated time 6 hours labor at a good shop with a bridgeport mill and TIG capability. Most shops are ~50/hr min. Sooo...$300 to do that: MINUMUM!
