I'm going to update this thread with pictures as the car progresses.

Goal: 9.60's reliably. the car will spend most of its time at the drag strip. But, I am not doing anything so extreme that I cannot drive it on the street, or take it to the local roadcourses. With that in mind, I am keeping the stock IRS. I am going to run ET Streets, or the new MT drag radial (they are actually outperforming the et street)

Ok, so here is what I am doing right now

-TEC built Twin Turbo's. I've been asked to keep the specs disclosed so don't ask https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

-Custom manifold with dual TiAL 40mm wastegates.

-6 Point cage NHRA legal to 8.50's

I will run the PowerFC for now, 850/1600 injectors with dual walbro pumps.

As soon as the fabrication is complete I am pulling out the motor and race porting it. It will be a copy of the motor in demetrious's drag car (minus the whole Alch thing https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR)

Intake manifold will be left stock at the molment. A sheetmetal intake mani is in the works, but i cannot afford this at the molment. Mabye by the season? Doubtful though.

Trans Will be a Jerico DR-4 dog box. 4speed, straight cut gears, no BS. jerico is building my tranny right now, should be done in "3 to 5 weeks." The shifter will not fit the stock location. It is the same lenght back as the stock shifter but will sit on the drivers side of the console. A hole will have to be cut and a peice of tinning will cover it back up. I already have the adapter kit, driveshaft and 3 clutches. I am going to run the ACT xtreme PP and sintered Iron Disc.

Rear end is a TII unit with stock axles (again the budget is coming into play)

I'm still running Van's Feed IC, but the endtanks are modified for use of 3 inch pipes.

There might be a NX wet Kit to help these turbos spool. It depends on the deal I can get, and if the car really needs it.

I think that is everything I am changing.

It's going to be one hell of a car. Power output should be way above 500rwhp at 15lbs, and there is PLENTY of room to go up! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

it looks slow Bobby.

TYSON 01-19-2005 02:07 PM

What series do you intend to race with Bobby?

That transmission is illegal in any class that uses DOT tires.

Yeah, NHRA used to allow them in the quick class, but rules have changed.

I am really not looking to compete this year. I just want to go out and run fast time to be honest with you. I bought the trans because I wanted something that will not explode when I beat on it. It is a lot cheeper then a guru and much more durable. But, the guru would allow me to run in the street class...

TYSON 01-19-2005 02:22 PM

You could have run in SportRWD last year, not for this year though.

You'll be in with the back-halved cars! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Woo Hoo

Well, I really cant even afford to travel around, and I wolnt have time to with school anyways. I am going to play with the car on the street a good bit. I really have no desire to go out and be competitive in any classes. I just want to build the car and enjoy using it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

What about Pan-am's? Bracket racing...

Actually I worked my ass off 45+ hours a week over the summer, and have been working as a mechanic for a month now. I also have a LOT of good hookups. There would be no way I could afford to do this stuff without the hookup's (i got each turbo at almost 1/3 of the retail ) So at the end of this, I'm really not putting too much more into the car besides what I already had. Look at the price of a new T-51 kit...

rfreeman27 01-19-2005 09:09 PM

Tyson,

I might fit into the NDRA pro street tire class. Everything checks out. They say no transmissions like lenco's, but thoes are sequential clutchless. I *think* they might be ok with a regular old H pattern, the rule is kinda shady on this.

That would be a great class to run in...

TYSON 01-19-2005 09:12 PM

Actually they say it must be an OEM transmission. It doesn't have to be original to your car, but it must have been offered from the factory in SOMEBODIES car.

This would of course be specifically tailored to the Supra guys running GM automatics. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

rfreeman27 01-19-2005 09:17 PM

The jerico is just a toploader ford 4 speed...

I think the case *should* look like the ford's. The newer DR4 - 4 has a magnesium case, but i dont think thoes come on the older model.

TYSON 01-19-2005 09:29 PM

you better ask before you pay your entry fee or travel to an event.

NOPITECH@nopi.com

don't expect much, when I asked why individual throttle bodies and electric water pumps are illegal in the Turbo6 class this was exactly the response I got:

Hey Jack, the only reason they are'nt allowed is because it states in the rule book that you must use the injection that comes stock on the car. If it comes with ITB, than you can run that, if it comes with fuel injection via a rail, it must remain that way. We do not allow electric water pumps in the sportsman class.

It's illegal because the rule book says so. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png yet slicks are legal in this "street" class.

Where can I find out more about Demetris ports. IF you are really trying to make over 500hp (assume to the wheel) at 15lbs that would put you at 1.2 VE at 7k rpm or just over 1 at 8k. Best PP ports are known for that. So whats the secret?

CW

l8t apex 01-21-2005 08:13 AM

Hey what's the yellow stuff on the compressor wheel nut?

Is that Gorrila snot and how does that stuff work the balance of the wheel @ 10 bazzilion RPM?

the only way you're going to find out about Dee's ports is to pay him to build you an engine and then tear it down and look for yourself. Chances are they wouldn't be the same as his race ports even then.

Just so ya know. Demetrios made over 800rwhp with just a street port on his 13B.

That amount of boost just blows me away! How are the motors able to take that?

I mean relating to springs and seals? Pistons engines get Titanium valves, super hard springs and retainers, decked and O ring heads just to deal with the increased PSI. Outside of Xdoweling, rotor pinning and housing oil bypass how do the stock spring and seals last........ or.......they dont?

Are there harder spring sets for the seal sets out there?

Kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a printed rule book, don't it? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

I heard that Rafaelito used to run around 40psi on his old webber setup https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

rotor_dee 01-25-2005 08:18 PM

yes the 800rwhp was made at 32 psi. The car has been up as high as 46psi and stayed together somebody turned the boost controller to high by accident and I got on the transbrake for about 9sec's according to my data log and when I reviewded it there she was higher then ever. Needless to say this year 32 psi will be the low setting https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

rfreeman27 01-28-2005 02:00 PM

It's almost out of the fab shop...

if dee would stop tying the fab guy up with all his bullshit he could actually work on my car! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I have pics of the manifolds with the wastegates on if anybody wants to see. Very quality...

yonner 01-28-2005 03:05 PM
