stock hp?
#1
so heres my question, they say a manual rx8 has a stock hp of 238 right? but all the dynos of stock rx8's ive seen and heard of are like 170-180hp. is this correct or am i off? and if so isnt a 60hp loss to the wheels really high? jus a lil curious can someone shed some light on the subject?

Where the **** is my $500?
that only applies to the really early ones, the hp thing happened right off the bat. apparently people buy mazda's and then go to the dyno, as you would with any race car.
um pm me the vin and i can tell you if it had it or not

mazda says 238hp and that the dyno confuses the car, and that its got a lot of drivetrain loss

it is the CPU, i can't remember but one magazine try to do a dyno run and the CPU give them an error message because the car is not moving, so the CPU does not go in to performances mode, in order to not hurt the engine. they try disconeting the front wheels sensor but no luck, after one day messing up with it they give up! i think it was sport compact car.
And yes, this seems a bit 2003. Any research or searching on any board that deals with the RX-8 shoudl turn up piles of results and discussions of this topic.
The original numbers for the car before it was released, for all those who pre-ordered, was 250 HP. They re-rated it at 238. If the stock car pulled 190, which I have seen happen, that is a 20% drivetrain loss, which is not un heard of.

makes me wonder if the magazine folks forgot to turn off DSC. That is essential to making a dyno run.
