DJ Rotor, I wouldn't really call the TT a pure sports car. It's not a RWD car, for one, only FWD or AWD...

Anyhow, as far as the pricing is concerned, you'd think everyone would just shut the **** up until Mazda makes their own official announcement. Every other speculation is just pure bullshit until then. Actually, that goes not only for the pricing, but the power, the features, etc. Each article I've read has had different specs listed, so obviously NO-ONE has the right information yet.

Agreed on the speculation thing.

But the TT not a pure sports car . . . what exactly is it then?

Oh, I know there are as many definitions of "sports car" as there are people interested in them. You will for example come across people who maintain that anything with a fixed roof is not a sports car, but a "sports coupe" at best, or a GT. Oh, and a sports car can't have more than two seats, etc etc.

Then there are the redneck definitions that depend pretty much on power alone. I have actually been laughed at for saying that the Miata is a real sports car but the Camaro isn't.

But if RWD is a prerequisite, what exactly do you call the Lotus Elan? Afraid I can't agree with you there.

Anyways, ramble mode off . . .

No need to get hostile, just reporting what I read thats all, dont kill the delivery guy!

Maybe its just being reported what Mazda is releasing as time goes on, I still havent seen any conflicting information yet. Besides these guys drove the car as well.

DJ Rotor: I just don't know what to say regarding the Elan and TT. They fall on such iffy middle ground that its hard to decide. I'm aware of the traditional definition that only a rear-drive, two-seat droptop is a sports car, and also of the sports car vs. grand-tourer distinction. Thinking it over again, its quite a tricky topic. I'm with you, though, that a Camaro is not a true sports car. Muscle cars are frequently mistaken for sports cars by redneckers.

Rob: Sorry for flying off the handle there. I've just been growing more and more frustrated by all the moronic speculation that's been going on in the forum and in car magazines. I have read the Automobile article, and I have the new Car & Driver to look over tomorrow. Yes, the Automobile article does state 32,000, but even they annotate it with "estimated" or something like that. Anyhow, as I said, until Mazda announces something specific, anything that anyone guesses at is absolute mental masturbation.

A lower horsepower automatic version is normal, alot of car companies used to limit the power when you got the car with a automatic.

Sad thing is the 350Z comes with the same horsepower and suspension set up no matter if you get the $26,000 or the $34,000 version. Mazda will make a big mistake and not sell any of these cars if they dont keep the price below $30,000.
