Ill believe that price when I see one sitting on a dealers lot.

I dont care what that web site says, the web site and the early press releases used to say that the Mazda 6 was going to be $22000 for one with a V-6 fully loaded, now the V-6 fully loaded is almost $25000.

And for $26,000 you can get a 280hp Nissan 350Z.
I'd like to see dyno results of the rx8 and 350z, wonder what the power bands are like on the two.

Just a rumor (as far as I know), but the new Zs are dyno'ing 30-40 horses lower than expected. We all know that the torque will be there. I'm guessing that superimposing the Zs' dyno chart on the RX8's would look like Mount Vesuvius on top of a mesa.

That will be an excellent battle - production models of the Z vs. the RX8 (on the track). Already the RX8 has a huge utility advantage.

i hear its 250 at the flywheel... due to all the emissions stuff... the japanase version will be 280. much like how the Integra type R is rated at 210 in japan and only 198 in north america.

regarding the exhaust system stuff... i wouldn't worry about it too much... i'm sure racing beat will come up with something very very ingenous to help all of us out

I guess no one has to worry about the exhaust until they actually buy an RX-8..

Huh? Isn't that like saying "no one has to worry if it's OBD II or not until they buy it", or "no one has to worry if it's a rotary or not until they buy it"? Did you read the original post? Would you prefer to know how many cylinders (or if it has any) a car has before you buy it? Please, if you know something I don't, post it instead of being a smart ***.

I was just making the point that some people have reasons to know certain facts about a prospective new car, instead of "not worrying about it until they buy it". Some people would prefer to know if a particular car has an engine before they buy it. Some would like to know what type of engine it has. I was asking about the exhaust system to gather information on the difficulty of adding forced induction to the renesis. I specifically stated my reason at the top of the thread for wanting the info, and hoping someone here knew anything about it. Hence the smartass comment. I don't know the guy, but I'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt and call him a smartass rather than a dumbass.
