Hy guys, I have a rx-8 2004 with 33000 miles on it. Now Im having problems with the engine, it stalls at the stops, rough idle, lack of power, engine light is continuosly on. Took it to the dealer and they said that it was the computer; it was send to California for an upgrade and it still doing the same . now they said that after quering their troubleshooting computer they said that they have fix around 12 different codes and they are down to three to finish. During all this time they said that if it dont get resolve they will put a new engine. Any suggestions, Im about to burn the car even though I like it a lot.

Have the engine leak down tested it will pick up if there is a cracked or chipped seal .

Rough idle is normal...stalling at stops and lack of power os probably due to compression or, like they said it could be a comp. prob that is causing an abnormally low (even though it is very low already) idle which is causing stalling when you come to a stop (idle). Ask them to do a compression test.

Just get your new engine. You didnt say, but I'm sure it is an automatic. Dealers in really hot areas are replacing them right and left. The new enginew are supposed to be updated to new specs.

AT here 50k hot sunny Fl. On hot days 96+ 93octane mine knocks like crazy also no power stalls at light. My mom calls me all the time and I have to talk her through getting it starter by killing fuel pump and other crap. Major PITA my dealer wont seem to do **** for me.

Is there a recall on the motors? I was about to get a haltech and pull back my timing.
