Rebuild Question
#1
i am looking around for a FD right now, how big of a deal is rebiulding a rotary, i am a honda guy.. i can rebuild one of those in a weekend no problem, but is it more dificult with a rotary, what are the big things you have to change most of the time... just apex seals? sorry for my limited knowledge on rotaries.. but i need to know how big of a difference the condition of the motor should make in my decision of rx-7

the biggest bitch is cleaning the damn parts off , then scraping seals, then soaking in carb cleaner, then washing, then scraping some more, then washing again to inspect them. then you have to mic the rotors and housings and all the bearings to make sure they are within tolerances. then you have to replace ALL the seals! some people say otherwise but I dont like doing things twice.
5/10 times your housings will be bad and those are almost a grand for new ones.
Other than that its easy.

If you can rebuild a piston engine you are more than capable of rebuilding a rotary.
Remeber it's only three moving parts to a 13b.
rx7trix is correct in that alot of the work is just inspecting the parts for clearance.
