ok so theres a t2 in the junkyard the car was wrecked so i hope the motor is still decent. the junkyard wants $500 for the motor complete. the keys were still in the door so i brought a battery and started the engine on ether (starting fluid) and it runs.

i was thinking how much power can i get out of this thing if i went n/a and did some huge porting. i would like to go carboration because i hate the idea of fuel injection. turbos cost too much money i think to do properly. ($800 dollar i/c is rediculous)

the car will be a weekend warrior so probably 5K miles a year on it at the most.

i am an accomplished piston mechanic and could probably do most of the porting work and such myself. we have no emissions laws in florida, so i can gut all of the power robbing emissions crap.

me questions are

whats a reasonable ammount of hp and torque i can get outa this thing without using exptic components like ceramic seals and stuff.

how about a redline?

what about cost? (remember i can do most of the work myself)

life expectancy?

also i am considering nitrous.

i just want some kinda motor that runs like crap below 4K rpm's, makes people wince in pain when i drive by, and has god awful power that hurts my fuel guage and makes people behind me move else their bumper catch on fire

also, dont consider things like clutch upgrade, etc because i already realise the pricing and such for these "secondary" items.

well the cost for a pp motor is mostly parts, you have to buy the housings ($800each), pp will make 310-320fwhp@10,000rpms. a big bridge is mostly labor and it will make a little less power (10hpish). with a big port na you arent increasing the torque so you dont really need any drivetrain mods. you do need a good exhaust though
