Can someone explain the reasoning for such early exhaust port opening? I was under the assumption that earlier opening shortens the power stroke or does this apply to n/a only?
i think the marginal cons outweigh the pros.
just look at the e-shaft angle where the exhaust ports open: i feel there isn't much useable "leverage".
my personal feeling ist that the most force is transfered to the shaft/rotor way before even wild exh. ports open. you lose a bit of potential power but get back way more with earlier turbospool and probably more topend. on NA engines this might be a different story. but thats just my theory, unfortunately i never could test that (but some day i will)
