White coating on exhaust ports?

We just put RB headers on my buddies new 86 Gxl and the exhaust ports were all white, kinda creamy color. What is that? mine were all black and carbon caked.
---side note----
it was kinda fun again to drive a stock n/a, just to see the vast improvement my car has gone. I would atleast have 5-6 car lengths on it to 60.
