BTW, I made a set of 4mm spacers for my car. It doesn't seem like it adds that much more angle. Under full lock while drifting, it looks like I'm rubbing against the control arm. There are black marks all over it.

If the stock tie rods are 10" in length...

Then you add a 1/4" spacer, the tie rods go to 10-1/4" length.

But, to get back to stock alignment specs, you move the tie rod ends back 1/4", so it's still 10" from rack end to hub.

How does this add more angle?

The original poster still hasn't answered the question about if the front was realigned??? I assume it hasn't? Of cource you're going to get obscene angle, but it's an illusion; if you wanna run obscene toe-out alignment on the street, it's going to eat up tires.

Driftaholic posted that he did redo his toe settings after installing the spacers. Spacers add more steering angle by letting the rack travel further in before hitting the bumpstop.

OK I know it's a dodgy drawing, but you get the gist, the red thing is the steering rack, the round things are joints, and I'm not sure what suspension the rx7 uses so I've drawn in double wishbones.

Would I be right in saying that effectively you are moving apart the joints between the actual rack and the tie-rods? If so, then you are increasing the amount of bump-steer you will get - which is more of a nuisance than a real problem, but since you are probably using stiffer springs, chances are you won't notice it. I would be interested to know either way.

That's right. The better kits in Japan come with tie rod ends to fix the bumpsteer.

I lot of people say they "feel" the difference with a simple change from a K&N filter replacement...
