This Would Be Fun

God! ok.
Basically Caterham own the rights to the 7 name and produce the most sorted car with the heritage aspect to boot. Expensive.http://www.caterham.co.uk/
Westfield are up there too, they're kind of a median between kit cars and production cars, they offer both. Very sorted cars and the pricing reflects this. Probably not as good handling as Caterham but there's little in it and you can't really call these cars bad handling http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/
Then you have the kits, some of the 7 type cars follow a chassis design from the "Locost" book. There's a rake of these that you'll have to google for the addresses, MK Indy, Stuart Taylor, Luego (mine), GTS, Mac#1 (based on an MK) and others. Most of these are based on a Ford Sierra (Merkur xr4ti?) which is more readily available than an old Escort. Out of those the MK and Luego would be the best made with the Luego costing more (not when I bought mine though) Then there are the non-book cars like the Raw Striker and MNR Vortex which are excellent cars too. With the kits, they're as good as you make them, lots of them are better built, better handling and faster than the real thing.
Looks like I just kept writing! HTH
