there would be a few nz new ones but most of them are imported from japan like most of the other performance cars down here rx7s, evos and whatever else you can think of. theres even s6 rx7s for sale on trade me for under $8k

i know that a lot of cars imported to NZ and AUS are a lot cheaper than the ones here.

main reason for this is probably because it's used, and usually (somewhat) old.

on a second note, i'd like to add that only the Americans are being ripped off when it comes to Skylines. 18K can get me an 89 GT-R here in Canada. and an R32 GTS-t, probably for like 8K total.

i wouldn't buy it though, no need for a car like that when i have something better. an FC

Alright time to speak, because most of you don't have any clue what you're talking about. If you haven't owned one or driven one shut up, because you are making yourself look stupid.

1. A GT-R can not run 1000hp on stock internal, I don't know where you get this ****. With a head gasket change and rom it will run about 420hp. With cams, turbos and an ECU it will run 550 with stock internals. You can squeeze out a little more but it will blow shortly. Anything above 600hp and the tranny and internal have to be changed.

2. As far as racing, on the circuit a GT-R cannot be touched, that is why they have been banned to their own class since the mid 90's. They went undefeated for a number of years and the other companies couldn't compete, including Mazda.

3. As far as Drag Racing, building a high horsepower Rotary is no cheaper that building a GT-R, and the GT-R is more reliable. And the fastest drag cars in Japan are GT-Rs not rotaries.

4. Anyone who spends more than $3000 for a GTS-t is an idiot. I bought a R32 GTS-t in 98 for $1500.

5. The GT-R is one of the best handling cars ever built. If you don't believe me read the reviews from just about every magazine that has ever reviewed one.

Now if anyone wants to have a real conversation about a GT-R then post, otherwise shut-up, you're an idiot.

well according to your location, you should understand that any form of skyline goes for a steep price here in the states. 15-20k is considered cheap around here for a higher mielage gts-t.

the reason for this being is that, people around here do like to hype up skylines to be more then they are ( example, you have people in town that see the gts-t and assume its 10 second or untouchable car and make it out to be something along the line of a gt-r while we all know is high mielage, stock and has engine problem)

and the cost of parts for an RB engine will be equally as steep.

so as a reply to it being equally expensive to build an equally performaing fd compared to a near stock gts-t around here is not a comparison at all.

however, it may be different in different parts of the world.

the r34's are amazing cars, but they are rarely imported to the states, instead you guy rich kids that think a skyline is a skyline performance wise, no matter if its an entry level or if its a gt-r, they put both on an equal pedestal, when they are 2 totally different levels of performance.

and thats my beef with skylines.

Anyone who buys a GTS-t in the states is crazy. They costed 27,000 brand new. And the engine is not tunable. The only company that made the parts for it stopped years ago. I know the price of the cars in the states. But your problem sounds like it is with the people not the car. Don't trash the car because you don't like the driver.

you are the first person to notice my problem is with the people that drive an entry level skyline and thinks its unbeatable like a gt-r, and people around here (here being where i live and not the forum) treat it like its an untouchable car, all because it caries the skyline name.

but for the price of a base, high mielage gts-t around here, you can simply build a better performing car. and if your looking for a status imprt, for the price of an entry level gts-t around here, you can buy an fd and have money left over.

im not trying to bash skylines, because ive seen video's and i know what upper end skylines can do and how impressive they are.

but the people that buy them in the states usually dont care for performance and buy it as a status symbol and still treat it like its untouchable, all due to the name.

I have watched numerous videos where the SKYLINE is not the ultimate handler. They are all wheel drive (R34) but the weight doesnt help. I have seen FDS carve a corner where the R34 just gets massive body roll. This is both stock for stock and pure race "Time Attack" machines.

So im sorry to say, you may live there but I still dont think they are the ultimate in handling.....
