Brembo or Zimmerman OE replacement rotors. Axiss ultimate pads.

Thank you. Your two posts in this thread were very helpful. I'm going with the Zimmermann rotors from Pelican Parts and the PBR Axxis Deluxe Plus organic pads from importrp.com.

I may have to alter my thinking regarding you NW folks.

Good choice - I hope you like them. I'm very happy with my set-up even on the track.

We put a set of Zimmermans w/ Mintex pads on my buddies 1.8t GTi. Thus far he has been happy w/ them and hasn't had any issues. He's had them for about a year now.

I just had some ATE (atomic ring slots) rotors show up for my 16v GLi. Still trying to decide on pads though. They were a fair bit cheaper than the Zimmermans but still much better quality than you would find from local auto parts stores. Another friend uses the same rotors on his M3 powered E30. Both street and track they have held up well. You can find them at TireRack.

oe list with worldpac, its usually the same as dealer list. two different kinds too, ate and girling

stuff seems to usually be cheaper through IMC, im not at work but i could check on monday. and the list price on worldpac and imc is waaaaayyy off. we only mark up aroud 40-50% and their markup is usually around 100-150% it seems.

The Zimmerman rotors a really good products.

Is the car manual or 6 speed?

Try not to sit with the brakes depressed when stopped at a light or after a hard stop. Remember an A6 is a 4000lb+ car and it really heats up the pads when its stopped. If your standing on the brakes while stopped your cooking the rotors.

First rule at track days is to never sit stopped with your foot ont he brake and NEVER set the parking brake, you'll warp your rotors in a heartbeat.

I have had a couple of heavier vehicles that warped rotors like this, once I changed my driving style and did not sit on the brakes I never warped a rotor again.

Good luck.

BTW - Do you have an A6 Quattro 2.7t? If so sweet *** car!!

So far so good with the Zimmermanns!

The car is a 2001 A6 quattro 2.7t with the tiptronic auto. I'm pretty sure it's just a 5-speed. It really is a sweet ride. My only complaint would be the soft-ish springs, but it makes a fine daily driver for the wifey. We've had it since new.
