So, the wife's A6 is starting to shake a bit during braking. Warranty expired a while back. Under warranty, the car had the original rotors machined, then replaced, then machined. I found that Autozone lists them for $24. each. This is cheap. Maybe too cheap? Anyone have experience with Autozone Duralast brand rotors?

If I don't go with the Autozone's, what would anyone recommend? And where to buy them? Not looking for anything fancy, just stock brake performance.

The cheaper the rotors are usually the faster they wear down and/or warp. Haven't used Duralast rotors but have used the Wearever brand at Advanced Auto Parts. Cheap discs but have worked fine for a stock replacement.

yea here's a recommendation, don't buy volkswagon products in the future.

Yes, haha. Thanks.

I know it is very much "en vogue" to be a VW basher these days. Nevertheless, the A6 is a very nice ride, and not at all trouble prone to this point. The brake issues were "discovered" by the dealer during oil change visits or state inspections, so it hasn't been the slightest bit inconvenient. The car delivers classy style, twin-turbo power, a beautiful interior, and very nice performance in a daily driver. The new vehicle warranty was all-inclusive for the first 4 years and 50k miles, and that included all maintenance and oil changes. It's still a very tight car with over 60k miles.

A friend of mine has a Passat and has also been very satisfied with it.

I did look at the Brembo OE rotors. Found them around $120. If I couldn't do a LOT better than that, I'm sure I'll go with the Autozone rotors just to see if they are junk or not. Hell, I could replace them 4 times for the same money as one set of Brembos. Now wouldn't that be fun! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

i show OE list @ $70 a rotor....

if you do get the $24 rotors, have em machined, they might not be straight out of the box
