You could try posting in 2nd gen forum and should get responses there. There are people on this site who should be able to give you a lot of guidance. I can list a few things that come to mind but I can tell you that this is certainly not everything. Probably not even close to everything.
I think a different, heavier duty trans is used on the turbos. Will the trans from the N/a physically work and if so would it hold up long under the additional torque? If you get trans from a turbo, does it mount up in the same place on body for the rear mounts? I don't know. If it is a different overall length you would need a drive shaft from the turbo.
Going from 88 to 89 the metering oil pump may have changed to the electronic version. If so you will not have the wires on your harness to go to it and will have to add them.
Oil and coolant lines need to be run to supply the turbo.
I would think that the EGI computer would be different. It may be different just from 88 to 89 but even if not n/a to turbos I would think would be different.
Air box should be different, intercooler, air piping for turbo, blow off valve.
There should be some electronic solenoids and actuators that you will need for control of the turbo. But, these could still be on the turbo engine that you have.
I would go through the factory service manuals including all of the wiring diagrams and note all of the differences before starting.
This would be a major project but I would bet that there are some people here who have done it or something similar successfully. There are people here who know a whole lot!
Best of luck.
