13B swap
#1
I have a friend who will give me a 13B non turbo to rebuild. I plan on giving it a slight streetport as well. Then put this into my 85 GSL. I will plan to carburate the 13B as well. What kind of work am I looking at? I have no idea as to what it takes for all this to work out. Please help me out.
Thanks,
Clement

the rebuild is not the easiest thing you might want to have a shop do it i've seen a few carb setups most use the racingbeat manifold and different carbs. all of that has to be done custom though. its gonna be alot of work to make it run well. judge ito knows all about this stuff

well let me tell its not gonna be fun doing it yourself but you will learn a lot. first off your gonna need the front cover from your 12a so you can mount the motor on the factory mounts( this will take a little patience and drilling because you have to make the slot on the mounting bracket about 10mm longer towards the front of the car), and your gonna need the oil pan from a gsl-se, a tranny from a 13b,and the distributor from your 12a, oh and might as well get some headers put in instead of the stock 13b ones. then your gonna need to seal off the holes where the injectors go. your gonna need about 3 feet of fuel line to run the new fuel line and return line to your carb. i used 3/8 ss braided line. ill try to post up a pick when i can of my 82's engine bay so you can take a look at some of the stuff i have done. its gonna take you a while but your gonna love it when your done and please dont forget your fluids when your finished putting the engine in the car it sounds stupid but i've seen it happen and it not pretty. good luck!

someone whos done this or is planning on doing it, should post in the faq section on what to do and what to avoid, and maybe a few tricks to get you on your merry way.
as far as the front cover if you get to find one from a gslse, i think you should be fine and you would not need to make the slots longer.
i might be selling a dellorto 48 that i got a 2 months ago along with the intakes. Im not sure if its complete it looks like it is but i havent closely check it yet. ill take some pics and post them up. It will include a rebuild kit which i already have.

ill get a picture up of my engine bay up as soon as i can. as for the front cover question, what we mean is the front part of the engine where the pulleys and water pump is at thats the front cover of the engine.
ohh and i got my 5th and 6th port open all the time.
