Whose Computer Is It, Anyway?

A large part of my job is to 'hurry up and wait'. I have deadlines to meet every day, but after those deadlines are achieved, it's my job to sit around wait for problem calls to roll in and handle them. In the meantime, I surf. If I didn't have surfing, I'd probably not be able to quit smoking, like I am. I'd also probably have a nap.

I'd say it depends on the work place. Where I work, if you work harder, you don't rake in more money (unless you're talking about raises and bonuses and such...I mean we don't get "more customers" or "more orders" or anything). We wait for work, and do it as it comes to us. If I have nothing to do, I surf. I think it's better than my coworker, who just takes a lot of smoke breaks. At least I'm able to answer calls and e-mails (which is a lot of my job).
My boss says he really doesn't care what I do, as long as he doesn't hear any complaints about my work. (which has happened, and he jumps right on me, which is fair) I'm pretty self-sufficient.

the only computer within 3000 ft of me is used to record the amount of impressions we have ran and how many more to go, no internet period, tho I prolly wouldn't use it, I stay busy enuff that I don't get bored, and if I did, there are things on press I could do..
