The details of my childhood are quite inconsequential. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten...

No really though. When my folx got divorced (late 80's) my dad bought his first 1st gen. He took care of the fluids like a fanatic but he ragged the car hard... And it loved it That gold 12a pegged 288,000 miles before it gave up the farm. By this time this was his DD he already had other sevens, but I was amazed at how indestructable these little cars were + the performance factor just blew my mind.

He told me about rotors and I helped with his rebuilds and port jobs over the years until I left for the Navy in 1998. I was stationed in Japan and saw everykind of tricked out seven imaginable. Even what I believe most Americans will never see, the FD's that they kept making (for awhile anyway) after they were no longer imported here. Hence my dream rotary car the Efini RX-7 engineering FD from the late 90's JDM.

But even then I loved the car and not the engine and it's properties. It was not until I moved back to America 2002 that I really realized just how unique the rotary engines truly are.

I was gonna buy a 74ish cosmo early this fall but it was trashed but while at the junkyard I saw a new arrival covered in leaves and some serious grime... An FC!!! My dad and I went over and started chatting with the owner of the yard. He wanted 600 but he gane in and sold it for 550. The rest is history, she looks a little rough now but I have the vision and she has the potential.

rotories make teh world go round... not up and down

Two summers ago I didnt care about cars whatsoever. Then one day at a summer camp my friend pulls up in his Prelude. I think to myself, hey that looks kinda cool, i wish i had a cooler looking car. After that I was drawn in by cars, before that the only car i knew about was the Toyota Supra but i still couldnt even tell one on the road often mixing them up with new Celicas.

My first love was the 300zx TT. After spending much time on the 300zx boards and realizing that they were out of my price range i decided to go look for something else. The URL was www.300zxforums.com, so naturally I tried www.rx7forums.com and my life changed forever. I was redirected to nopistons and it was then i realized that there were RX-7's outside of the 3rd gens. I also learned what the rotor meant and it amazed me that the RX-7 was the only car on the road without pistons. After this moment I knew i had to get one of these unique little cars. I didnt have much money saved up but after looking through the classified ads i found a 2nd gen for 1500. I thought to myself, 1500 for a car? 1500 for an RX-7? My dad went by to check it out, ran like a top but alas it was an automatic and I decided to wait. Eventually I bought a shell for 350, it was goign to be my project, it was a 87 base. But after major title problems and after i realized it was going to cost way more than i had once though i sold it taking a 75 dollar hit. I once again needed a car.

My hunger thirsted and all summer i skimmed car ads on every forum. For a time i lost sight and just needed a car any car. Many came, many went, but most were too far away. Then the Supra came along. It was truly a gift, not the Supra itself but what it represented. I learned stick on it and learned what a car with more performance than an average sedan felt like. The the time came to sell it. I sold the car and finally I had enough money to get a Turbo II. I had to ship it from california but when i got it the elation was umatchable. I finally had my dream car.

I am still getting used to it and am far from being one with my car but i can now look into my garage and think to myself, this is how it is supposed to be.

new here and hoping to be able to find a reasonably priced 3rd gen...

I don't kno wmuch about rotaries..never had any exposure to them.

As i learned mroe about the design of engines and went beyond hp,liters, hp per ci, how many cams ect ect...

I thought that the rotary was a real brave attempt by mazda specially on the 3rd gen to make it a poor mans super car and beat many piston engines while at it.

Once again i think mazda and Ford were brave to release the rx-8 and it becoming at sucess, just recently read the rx-8 being compared to the 350z and winning the comparo.

i'm 21 but i read hot rod (they recently put the STI over the cobra and rightly so) so i'm more seasoned on big v8s ect ect.

The fact that the CSBs are SUPER easy to work on, simple and make shitloads of power on pump gas (nice write up on 600hp on pump gas) without mcuh $$$ spent. It became TOO easy and TOO simple.

I'm that type of person that needs ot be unique, and After seeing a couple of 9 SECOND 3RD GENS whip *** at the track..and even when they lost they ALWAYS gained on the top end.......... as i learned more and more..i'm feeling bored with old tech and find the rx-7s(specially) whole design and less is more approach very enticing.

did imention it's GREAT looking?also the rx-7 crowd Has to be Tech-savvy and turbo savvy as their cars are not the usual piston engines.

done

It actually started a long time ago for me, but i never really got into it until my best friend decided he was moving out of state (which he never did) so he sold me his 83 for 100 bucks. After driving it for a while, a guy at work told me he had a friend selling a yellow one for 800 but the seals were shot. After i went and looked at it i found out it was a turbo II. I picked it up and got a spare motor with the car. The plan was to fix and sell it to finish my turbo colt. but after doing research my mind changed and i probably wont finish the colt. ha.

My story is quite long so I'll make a super long story short. When I was born in 1971 my mother was taking to the hospital to give birth to me in a 1970 Mazda R100 station wagon with a 10A bridgeport engine @ 10,000 rpms full throttle. Later she was rushed into the operating room. The Doctor that handled the C-section on my moms and later cut my hombilical cord was a rotary engine guru and before he cut my cord he blessed and or kinda of baptized me with the good rotary engine spirit. Later through out my early years I had a rotary engine angel following, guiding me. When I became of age (12 years old) I worked on my first Rx3 12A. Ill cut this story short and finishing with my signature. I did not choose, I was chosen.

Some of this story is fiction some of it is TRUE. I surely do Love the rotary engine.
Yes he IS the rotary messiah!

Can I be your fist disciple?
