Funny, i was just going to ask about the projectors and you mentioned DLP, anybody set up one of the dlp projectors?

my buddy has one of them new projectors.. it looks crisp and we only use it on a like 40 inch whiteboard.. only thing is that its better if the room is dark. so depends on how the room you are gonna put it in is.. lcd are nice too.. i read an article and basically plasmas seem more expensive to repair and create more heat.. lcd ones are some of the least problematic but since they are sorta newer in the tv market they dont have as much data to base repair costs over the years..



since you are gonna be out there you should see whats available out there.. incase **** happens..

One thing I know about them is they burn out fairly quick. I believe their life span is only like 5 years.

Which? Plasma's Projection, or LCD? I hate our projection one, because when we turn it on, then off, we can't turn it back on, without waiting at least 7 hours, so we don't blow a fuse. And the fuse takes about 10-30 minutes to replace (including taking the back off the tv, then putting it back on), depending on my days.

The plasma's have like a 60,000 hour rating on them, after that they are toast.



Projectors, like one you mount on the cieling and project to a screen have a replacable bulb, they are about $300 to replace.

I'm not talking about those kind of projector ones. I'm talking about the 60" projection screen TV's. I think I'd rather go with LCD instead of plasma if I get a TV, because LCD has like an infinite lifetime, the only thing that'll die is the backlight.

With the current quality of electronics i would be impressed if either of them lasted 5 years.



I have a 60 inch rear projection tv right now, they last a long time, my old 50 inch was 8 or 9 years old when I sold it

At least in 5 years, the quality of electronics is going to be better than it is now, at the rapid pace that technology is evolving.

not better quality, craftsmanship in this world is deteriorating thanks to 10 cent an hour chinese prison labor we can buy electronics rediculously cheap but they are in my opinion made of poor quality components with little thought put into assembly.



i cant even begin to count the numbers of **** electronic items i've had take a **** on me in recent years. Hell i remember when the ******* car died before the stereo and speakers.

i read on PSM that LCD is a better choice than plasma.
