Keen observation on your part. The reason it happened is because, ever since Nam, the Democrats have become the doom and gloom party. They've built their base by telling their followers how much it sucks to be them. Sometimes it worked; so, we ended up with a gurly-man peanut farmer and a hen pecked womanizer. Of course, their electorate's life still sucked, but somehow it seemed better when the guy in the White House had a butt ugly daughter.
