so YOU can fly for $70, regualar people cannot

And I still do not think that just anyone can fly over the city anymore. You see helicopters and other planes, but Im pretty sure they have special permits or whatever.

They are not just going to let anyone fly over the city now

"so yeah me and my friends are going into the city for shopping, mind if we do a fly-by over the empire state building?"

control: "you can go ahead, as long as your not a terrorist and you stay over 7000'- your not a terrorist right?"

yes, i can fly for $70 an hour, and i just happen to be a regular person.

you do not get it. when in the airspace (class B) of jfk and newark, you are under their control. of course they aren't going to tell you to do a fly by of the emp. state building; but if they told you to at a certain altitude, and heading...(hypothetically) then you pretty much have to do it.. i hope you can smell the sarcasm.. re-read my other post: while in their airspace, you are under their control.

it doesn't matter what the **** you want, or if you want to see a building... all that matters is where you want to land, or if you want to pass through when in heavy traffic areas.. they will get you in and out... period. and they don't give a **** if you want to do a sightseeing tour of the city...

if you in it for a tour, call a heli charter company. they have different rules.

oh, and get this... you can fly directly over the city at 7,001 ft. as long as you are not in their airspace..

why the hell do you want to keep arguing about this? you obviously know little about aviation, so why do you make up **** like new york is this holy ground and no one can fly over it just because of 9/11?

airspace is airspace, notams/tfr's are all there for safety. you don't just go up and **** around near an area like that.. it's a lot more complex; but if you are proficient, it's not hard to do..

are you a regualar person or are you a pilot? first it was a pilot- plane wont leave without you, etc...

now regular person- meaning not a pilot in this case.

and again ill ask- any guy and his 3 friends off the street can walk into the airport over there and hire a small plane to take them roundtrip to NYC for $70?

a pilot is a regular person. go get your license. you can be a regular person with a pilot's license too !

i am a pilot. a regular person with a pilot's license.

however, because i have my license, does this make me not a regular person? is this a form of discrimination? omg dude. seriously. hahahaha.

an airplane will not leave the ground without a licensed pilot. unless it is a student soloing with the proper endorsements, or someone stealing an airplane.

anyone who knows a pilot, or who is a pilot can hop in a small airplane with friends, and split the cost of a trip. it's just like a car rob.. with a few more rules.

i've seen airplane rentals run from around $50 an hour to $130 for your basic single engine. just for the airplane that is.

now if you have to hire a pilot, you are going to have to pay extra. but most people know a pilot or two who would be more than willing to split the cost of an airplane rental to fly into new york... so in other words.. yes, anyone can do it... actually, most people would jump at the chance.

get a group of 4, make sure ones a pilot.. and go fly right outside the city, grab the best view of your life, and have fun.

and yes... ANYONE CAN DO IT !!! for a fraction of what the train would run, and a fraction of the headaches driving would cause.

so its 50-70 a hour plus a pilot?

so you would have to pay for the plane to sit there, unless your pilot friend wants to fly it back?

holy **** dude. can you read?

check out some of the other stuff i have written.

i personally would not have to pay any fee because of the military registered aircraft.

i know atlantic city, nj wanted $10 to park for the day. i don't know what other airports run, but it's usually not much if any.

holy **** dude- I AM READING and you need to calm yourself down

you said $70 roundtrip to fly to the city for 4 people.

then you say its plus a pilot

then you say its $70 a hour for the plane

then you say your a pilot so you would not have to pay for the pilot

so then I say who flies the plane back so you dont have to pay for it to sit there? then you tell me I cant read? WHo owns the plane that is letting you only pay for the actuall flying time? ITs rented by the hour, so someone has to pay for it to sit there at the airport while you shop dont they? Im not talking about airport fees, im talking about paying the owner of the plane to use it.

BTW-atlantic city is over a 2 hour drive to NYC, its quite far away

Aircraft = $70 an hour (actually, i think its about 67, but whats 3 dollars)

Time= 30 minutes each way.

Total Time= one hour

Total Cost = $70 because we only flew for one hour.

so the guy who owns the plane doesnt care that its just sitting somewhere and lets you pay for actuall flight time only?

wish everything was like that- hotels only paying for when your in the room, car rentals only when you actually drive the car, etc..
