i dunno about the x-1/9 but the fiat spiders cant take a rotary, they have a really narrow engine bay.

go find that link with that lime green civic with the rotary in it....it was posted twice on the forum within the last month or so. See how they're doing it, then try to replicate...it would be awesome if you could do it into a 1g MR2. One problem though- you'd need to get pretty creative on how you're gonna cool and intercool that engine like that.
if it was in a MKI MR2, people have been doing trunk mounted intercoolers with holes cut in the bottom for air flow.. and the stock MR2 setup has air being pushed up through the engine bay for cooling, so that wouldnt really be a problem, i think it'd be cool to see a rotary in the back
