speaking of the 16x i've heard rumblings of an extended miata platform, without ford locking them down however all bets are off, but ive been hearing about some type of modified miata platform for a while and the whispers keep getting louder. The final nail in the coffin to me was the intro of the 16x, then the announcement that it will essentially never be in the rx8 (not said directly, but eluded to).

I doubt a rotary will make it into Mazda's high-volume roadster until it's truly accepted by the public. Which is too bad because the public in the States are clearly ****** retards when it comes to such things. Canada's got a huge Mazda following at least.
Nothing really has been said by Mazda about the chassis the 16x will go into except that it'll be the next RX-7 (aka RX-9). The fact they've unveiled the engine fully should mean they're done the damn thing by now so I'm not sure what the hold up is. Perhaps emissions? It should be kickass (for a rotary) emissions-wise given the changes though. Maybe they discovered something that made them go "We need to incorporate/change this in the design" during testing? Or maybe their design department wants to make sure its the flagship for a true nagare theme in Mazda's cars. Right now everything does seem a bit directionless with smiley faces just being slapped on cars during their refresh (CX-9, MX-5, etc). Anyways I hope they do it right and show the naysayers the awesomeness that is an aluminum block rotary.

Not saying it will be IN the miata.
What i've heard is that they're taking the miata platform and modifying it into the new rx-7, most like adding width but i've heard more about it being elongated a fair amount.
They've recently put a lot of money towards the rotary, hell the rotary is the ONLY hybrid mazda is working on (the hybrid tribute doesnt count, they only have like 500 of them and mazda techs arent even allowed to work on them since its an exact replica of the escape)

You're in cali (the only place the hybrid tributes are) so you guys can work on it, everywhere else every mazda dealer is told to send any tribute hybrids that find there way to them to a ford dealer. we dont even have training classes for the hybrids.
