So i'm in desperate need of a damn s/5 n/a (don't worry have many plans for) that i can beat 1revvin7 in ...and yes it WILL be done. but i need some damn loot and i need it now!!! so i'm starting up a somewhat uninformed scheme to buy some piece of ***** engine and rebuild it not only to sell it again for profit (if possible) but for future reference for myself to save money and to be prepared if i follow in the footsteps of vosko and blow everything to hell... possibly port it to a somewhat reliable state also... but from i noticed the market for engines is somewhat good and it will for sure better my knowledge of the 13b, cuz personal expierence is the best method right? ........

:smirk: You beat me, ahahha! Yea were gonna try this, probably but Atkins rebuild vid and some streetport templates, probably from RacingBeat. Gonna try and get the engines from junkyard or over the net. rebuild kits are about $400 right? Try and sell the rebuilt engine for like 1000-1200, that should go over well. I have no idea if we will warranty them tho, would tell ppl they would for sure start though.

Don't forget to factor in other costs, like new housings and such. If there is a profit to be made, it's probably pretty slim.

I don't think it would be profitable. Why would I buy an engine from some guy of the net I have never heard of when I can get a my 13B-T rebuilt with new houisings and a street port by Don Marvel for $2800.

You can probably make more money just rebuilding engines for locals, especially if you get to know people in the local 'street racing' scene. Once you buy all the needed tools, a decent profit can be made, charging them for labour.

Your turbo 7 will have to go <=13s before someone is gonna hand their oil burning 7 over to you to get rebuilt and ported though, so why not concentrate on getting that thing running well first

because we would sell it for atleast 1/2 that cost, and most 2nd gen owners are broke *****.

What kind of tools would we need to rebuilt these? Anything special beyond normal tools? Only thing i can think of is maybe a stand, pilot bearing puller, porting templates, micrometer, and a rebuild vid.
