I have an urge to put a skyline gtr engine in an fd

but i would probably get stoned and poked with pointy sticks by the "rotary is holy and unquestionable" clan that upholds the the firm belif that anyone putting anythining other then a rotary in an fd needs to feel the wrath of the pointy sticks....

btw, so if its moraly wrong to rip the sole out of the fd, is it ok to by a body with no engine and then drop somehting good in?
keep urging while you save up your money

Holy ****! I passed that car on interstate yesterday. It was on a trailer on I-75 heading to Atlanta.

So is going single turbo ripping the soul out of the car? (Mazda wanted the twins and instead of fixing the "high tech" system, many took the easy way out and went single)

that's exactly what my response was going to be. fast is fast, it matters not to me what engine a car has.

It still is rotary powered you totally missed the point. There is no use explaining.

I got to thinking about this and have come to the conclusion that more people need to do this conversion. Its the ****!! Everyone should do it. I mean even you guys said it can easily make over 500HP for half the money and last forever.

I changed my mind I am all for it.

If any of you want to sell your POS FD engines to me let me know. I guess I could give you about $500 for them if they run. They will probably blow though. If its a blown engine I'll give you $250.

i think its a sweet *** conversion, it would have taken alot of work and skilled fabrication to get that engine in there.

now, i dont know about this whole 'ripping out of souls' business, that seems a little extreme to me. we're not exactly killing people here.

i dont think the power plant in any car really makes the vehicle what it is. the rotary is a cool engine, no doubt. v8's are also cool engines, particulatly ls1's. if you can change an engine and the numbers dyno, track, or otherwise stay the same, then whats the big deal?

If im not mistaken there was a thread on here a while back with an fd that had an sr20 engine in it or something like that. I dont remember there being near this much grief about it. perhaps thats because it still used forced induction... hell, i dont know.

WTF is the "soul of a car"? since when has it been the damn engine? the "soul" of any car is the person behind the wheel that puts their time, money, sweat, and blood into building their car into something that makes them happy. it isn't some engine design that some people think makes them unique. it isn't a paint job that always catches peoples eyes. as a group of people we need to realize that the only thing we really have is a different design.....NOT a better one. if you base all your beleifs on a car on what the manufacturer put in there to begin with.....then why are you even modding in the first place?

Yeah I totally over reacted. I have changed my mind and take it all back the swap is awesome. 500HP for half the cost plus reliability? I would imagine everyone will be doing this swap soon especially you guys the love it so much.

Sell me your 13B-REW's!!1 I'll pay $500 for running ones and $250 for blown ones. We all know the running ones will blow anyway.

BTW - This is not a religon I just like the rotary and being different. Maybe soul was the wrong word how about character?
